You know what? You're the right guy for this, Bob. Why don't you post some links to some classic turf writing. Runyon, Smith, Palmer...

So in under an hour I go from being \"a thief\" to having an unpaid internship? Thanks, I guess.

Besides, around here that line needs attribution like \"To be or not to be\" needs it in Stratford-on-Avon.

But to show you I\'m not a complete curmudgeon, see if this will work. I presume people will still need to copy/paste into their browsers?

This is an apropos choice for the season. It\'s \"The Gray Horse\", a 1952 column by W.W. \"Red\" Smith (from \"The Red Smith Reader\", via Google Books). It will never stop astounding me that he wrote stuff like this six days a week, on deadline.

Found out no shorts in the box seats. I thought I was gonna be arrested for f—-s sake.

No shorts? That\'s unamerican! I wear shorts 365 days a year. Hope you all have a great time and cash a big ticket or two.

That is what put Saratoga down the list of my favorite tracks. I too ran into that problem and as far as getting into the paddock, I was wondering if I needed a tux. Had a horse running and he was a turf horse and being in Seattle it was a journey and he entered three times and we traveled out their only to scratch all three times because of sudden rain. That is the other problem I have with Saratoga rain could come at any time and spoil the party. Still a beautiful track with great racing when the weather cooperates.

JB,

Not trying to disagree.  Been awhile since i made the trip, but much faster by train no matter what.  The train has a fixed schedule.  Driving, there's a lot of potential distractions (read "drinking establishments").  Hell, it can 3 hours from Albany.

Enjoy!

Planning to be out there labor day weekend, for the record.

Why is speed bad on a soft or yielding turf course?
