Personally, I try not to read too much into works, but a bad work is more meaningful to me than a good work. I didn\'t see the work so I don\'t know how bad it looked, but I considered Z Humor a borderline contender so for me it would be enough to turn me off of him. But if Z Humor was a horse I really liked and I thought he would be a good value I\'d probably ignore the work and trust that Bill Mott knows more than the crew at the works.

Ask the Experts / Best pattern
May 03, 2007, 09:36:05 PM
The advantage of thorograph is not just getting good figs but seeing patterns. One of the questions I always ask myself is who has the best pattern and to me this year it is Scat Daddy. IMO, he is the most likely to run a winning figure. To me trips are almost impossible to project in a 20 horse field except for the horses with speed. He breaks from the fourteen hole and is bound to lose some ground, but he figures to be midpack where I\'d like my horse to be.

I don\'t think Leparoux has much of a choice. He needs to send his horse a little to try and get position. I don\'t think he is in here as a rabbit, but if you\'re breaking from the one hole you either send your horse or find yourself in last going into the first turn. I don\'t think there is a whole lot of speed in here if they try to rate Stormello. If they rate Stormello, I\'d see Teufelsberg going to the lead with Hard Spun to his inside with Sedgefield right behind them.

I agree High Limit looks the best in here.
The only way I can see him losing is if he locks up in some suicidal duel with Spanish Chestnut and Consolidator going 3 wide. He looks like a horse that will pair up or possibly go a little faster. IMO, Consolidator bounces. Mr. Sword isn\'t bred for the distance. Closing Argument will pair up at best. Spanish Chestnut is a rabbit. Sun King bounced last out and will improve off that one, but not enough to beat High Limit and is a huge underlay. I like Bandini\'s pattern and I think he continues to improve enough to get 2nd in here.
