Something just doesn\'t add up. Baffert texted Mike the night before to ask if he had 5 winners in him. Mike responded with I used to. The problem I see is that all of the horses at least made some sense on TG numbers, but how come his best chance IMO Mor Spirit was the highest price? its like nobody believes the \"magic\". But far from shocking results. West Coast had back races, AT was horse to beat arguably, AA may just love sprinting and his pattern while ugly could have at least suggested an untrustworthy yet forward move. IMO if you are upset with the big jump ups that\'s one thing, but upset the horses got on a plane for Baffert and showed up that\'s another thing. I bet zero of them and only used AT and Mor Spirit in Multi race sequences.

Ask the Experts / Re: What I Don't Understand About Last-Second Program Betting

Perhaps I\'m completely wrong, but I don\'t believe that you need some sophisticated computer system to determine the most likely winner in a horse race. the public gets it right 1/3rd of the time by using the most basic handicapping. that same public that complained about Mayweather Pacquaio will line up to bet McGregor in the worst boxing match of all time. My point is, the public is not overly smart. I\'ve long felt that the math nerds and computer system bettors aren\'t looking for a big edge, just one that\'s sustainable long term. Surely with enough money on hand at all times, they can invest into low if any risk with small returns.Unless you think the computers are the reason for so many favorites winning its hard to justify they have built something bigger stronger and faster.

rumor circulating that jock wasn\'t ready when the gates opened, he had just walked into the gate and they were off without him apparently. not bad when your only job is to make the front end to give your horse the very little chance he had, gotta be careful when lesser jocks ride against big boys

I like Epicharis running style for Belmont, and I do think he\'s interesting being a fresh horse that was perhaps targeting this race all along but he may be too slow. He definitely had the better trip than Thunder Snow in the UAE Derby, and that was light figure wise.

it is entirely possible he makes his living watching horses in the morning because what he\'s watching isn\'t relevant enough to make money in the afternoon. workouts are workouts. that\'s why they don\'t allow wagering on them.

Ask the Experts / Re: Draw reins- AD
May 22, 2017, 07:56:22 AM
I\'ve also read and talked with people much more knowledgeable on draw reins than I am, and the concerns they expressed dealt with the possibility of using muscles a horse isn\'t used to using. This can cause stress on those muscles and effect the horse in a negative way. is that why AD didn\'t show up? We will likely never know, but Todd said after he was concerned 1st time under the wire, didn\'t think he dragged Johnny into the race like in FLA and KY. If you watch it back you\'ll see what he means. It\'s Chad Browns world were all just living in it.

Ask the Experts / Re: Derby numbers

1st post on here ever, you could say I\'m a First Time Starter, some may even say I have good workouts, whatever that means. Seems like a fun crowd though, it was my 1st time reading on here leading up to the Derby, lots of differing opinions, which makes the game great.
I too was wondering how these numbers would come back because it\'s possible that enough didn\'t like the track that they could have just been an X for that alone. The more I watched the replay the better the effort looked, he really made all the running himself. Perhaps being against the horse aided in \"guessing\" what number AD would get, and the competition behind him certainly raised more concern even if it was 2 of the more likely horses to move forward in the race, but at the end of the day, he was the only one that really ever looked like a winner, and figure aside it wouldn\'t shock me if he went to the Preakness and wins again, although I\'m somewhat suspicious still and certainly wouldn\'t single or bet at 3-5.
