Sometimes the rail doesn\'t giveth, or does anyone care to remember Rosario\'s flawless \'17 Derby trip, from the 19 hole no less, on TG favorite Practical Joke?

Someone ask Practical Joke too.

Do they always post an inquiry after a jockey\'s objection?  Have seen jockey\'s  lodge objections after the stewards post an inquiry but have never been sure about objection first, inquiry second. Does it really matter, especially in a legal sense?

If you are referring to the stewards not posting an inquiry prior to Prat filing an objection maybe they just originally missed it.  After all Collmus never acknowledged Maximum Security drifting out in his race call.   Not to mention the NBC team of Tirico, Moss and Bailey didn\'t say boo about it either immediately after the race.   Wasn\'t until about four minutes after the race was over, and interviews of Saez and Servis were completed, that Tirico first said there had been an objection.

Seriously, NBC probably had a dozen guys in their control room/truck monitoring the race, from every camera angle imaginable, and none of them picked it up?   None were in Tirico\'s ear immediately after the race saying \"hey, the winner cut off a half a dozen horses on the second turn, we are cutting away from the interviews and going straight to camera \"x\" for the most glaring angle, you guys take it from there?\"

The stewards deserve the scrutiny they are under but there are a lot of other professionals in this game that have really dropped the ball on this one.

N.A. misses the break and Soumillon took advantage, putting Castellano in his back pocket.

...only one on the rail, Lopez should have kept Dickinson inside of SLL.

2005 Derby, Giacomo was at least 4 wide throughout the race and 8 wide in the stretch, Closing Argument was even wider during the race but still ran second at 70-1, then came Afleet Alex who, although four wide from his 12 post through the first seven furlongs or so, tried to go inside on the far turn likely costing him a Triple Crown.  Beaten a length for the win.

Congrats on sticking with your guns.  I\'m just a lurker here with an occasional comment on what I think is relevant but really enjoy all the comments and banter.   Track certainly helped Always Dreaming and they\'ll surely line up to bet against him in Pimlico, but AD backers got the cash today.

fwiw, the ride Rosario gave Practical Joke was as good as any you\'ll see in a big race, from the 19 hole to the rail by the 1st turn.  Unreal.

Inexcusable to run the first two races then decide to take the 4th off.   Guess they thought announcing prior to the 1st would kill their P4 pool.   Had P3s ending with the 678&9, now who knows.

Prat up for 4/28 work on BOM fwiw, sat behind workmate, went past latter part of work, galloped out well.  From the 11 post thinking they will be looking for a stalking/2 to 3 wide type trip a couple of lengths off of the pacesetters.

McCraken was heavily played in every KY Derby future pool, not sure you can call him the \"now\" horse.  Heck, he wound up 5.9-1 in the final pool.

fwiw, Trakus from the Keeneland site has difference in distance traveled between Irap and PJ as 20 feet, 6014 to 6034.

Any concern about the jockey?  Hernandez has had success on the big stage with Wilkes/Fort Larned in the BC but those were not 20 horse fields.  Only 2nd Derby mount IIRC.
