Can anyone offer any insight into how Mike Maker can claim horses with no turf pedigree and stretch them out on the turf with solid numbers? I can\'t seem to ever catch him. Other trainers have to scratch their heads when he consistently wins these marathon turf stakes.

I am very interested in the early races at Saratoga today. In the first I will be betting #3 Ultron for Mott. Very seldom does Mott come back in 7 days, This colt was in with Theory last Saturday(Pletcher\'s killer). Horse made a great impression on the track and clearly wanted more distance. Not sure that turf is going to be the answer but he is definitely worth following and the dam has produced a turf winner who is a full to this colt. Also in this race, the Lukas horse should take to the turf. Good early speed n debut and now gets Lasix and Saez and being by Blame should take to the turf.Dam has produced turf winners.Lets just hope that the Frankel is not as god as advertised.
Race #5 I have been waiting for Weaver to go to the turf with #3 Abstract Cape.Expensive son of Cape Blanco($250K) might be a turf move up. Takes blinkers off and has good speed on the dirt. I think it is very positive that Weaver actually tried this turf bred horse on the dirt off the trainer change. He must train very well in the AM. Just hoping that both these races actually stay on grass.

Castellano has taken mounts from some barns who rarely win .Pompay,Toscano,Contessa, and Trombetta.Rosario has been the most unpredictable, overrated rider for the last year. He appears to be scared to death with an inside post.He eithers guns out of there or grabs and slowly drops back to last so that he can get outside and attempt to circle the field.

What replay were these clowns watching in yesterday\'s fifth race? Did the winner #9 herd out the #3 at least five paths? The #3 lost the race by a head. Even worse was the seventh race. Video replays clearly showed that the rider of #7 Castellano clearly struck #5 in the face with the whip. #5 finished 2nd and the race was official within a minute. Two bad calls on a Monday PK6 carryover. No rhyme or reason to anything they do. I had both horses in first leg even though the difference was 6/5 vs 7-1. The #5 was my single in the 7th. I should have hit the PK6 and collected 10-15K on my small ticket. How can anyone have confidence in this game?

Any thoughts? I am disregarding last due to a troubled start. I like the fact that he exploded the first time he went long.He ran very well against Samraat and will be at least twice his price. I realize he is inexperienced but can\'t overlook the fact that he ran a 1 the first time he went two turns.

5% the vet? You are joking right? I\'ll say it again when these new supertrainers are being watched and scrutinized on big days they can\'t even get an effort let alone a win.Another great showing by Pletcher in the Breeder\'s Cup. Best laugh was all of his \"budding superstars\" couldn\'t even answer the bell[Cross Traffic and the one that was entered in the mile]. But don\'t worry he will be back to negative 2\'s and 4\'s when he gets to Fla. I don\'t even want to start another debate on Verrazano. Fastest sheet horse in the BC mile. Beat nothing but tomato cans in the two races at Mth.

The board told it all. Just like Verrazano at 9-1 in Derby. Educated players know what the media and racing authorities won\'t report. Entire game is not about training but about what magic the vet can do. Cibelli\'s letter was pathetic! How did she go from a 30% trainer winning titles every meet to a measly 8% who can\'t even win on her home track Mth where everybody is cheating. BTW no sour grapes! I am a winning player who has learned to bet less and less.

Let\'s see perfectly logical to you that Cross Traffic opens at 5-1 and the 3yo Palace Malice opens at 2-1. According to experts on this board, Cross Traffic was a future star. To me a lot like Verrazano. Big figures in Fla out of nowhere. Today there was scrutiny, out of competition testing and Pletcher failed miserably again. Don\'t care how many stakes he wins, not the same result when he is being watched. I.E. Breeders Cup. Just don\'t believe in coincidence!

BTW check the result of yesterday\'s 9th at the Spa. The winner came from Delaware and beat a good allowance field on turf at 18-1. Her last race was a prep at Delaware for Motion.

That definitely doesn\'t apply to Graham Motion, Michael Matz, or Jonathon Sheppard. If you are talking about dirt racing I might agree. There are a few cheaters who have ruined racing there. Very similar as to what has happened at Monmouth. Certain trainers, three in particular have defied logic all meet with their claims and overall percentages. It is like they reinvented how to train a thoroughbred.
Play a Monmouth dirt race at your own risk. It won\'t be addressed until a former $7.5k claimer wins a graded stake and embarrasses a big name horse.
Lucky these guys didn\'t claim any 3yo colts. Verrazano may have had his hands full.

I guess that breaking your maiden at Delaware vs open company in a maiden special weight on the lead in 21.4 45.3 57.4 104.1 in debut would make this filly outclassed in any NYbred NW1X allowance. Really! Some quantum leap. That field was mediocre at best for that level, as evidenced by the winner who was a 20K claimer. Her top figure was a TG 9. To think that a filly who ran TG 11 at 2yo could come out and run a 7 or 8 is unreasonable?
Please follow this filly\'s next start. I guarantee she will run a minimum TG 6 if it is somewhere like Delaware or Kentucky. My point is the filly should have run much better because the trainer can definitely have them ready off a layoff. If this had been Kentucky or Louisiana this filly would have been long gone.
I know what I am looking at in the paddock and post parade. Amazing that this trainer can\'t get anything to run anywhere close to an out of town performance in NY.He has failed this meet with some very fast horses at short prices. There is obviously some issue holding her back but when she gets that little extra help out of town she will win.

The Kentucky trainers at Spa are performing poorly.Hard to believe that LB\'s Expression could look that good in today\'s 3rd race and run that poorly. She was not 100% fit but completely outlooked the field. With any improvement from two to three years of age she should have wired this field with no problem. I have to put her in my stable watch. I suspect that Tom Amoss will ship her to a venue where he is not afraid to give the filly \"whatever\" she needs. She will probably run off the TV screen. So tough handicapping if drugs are on or off.

That statement is exactly what some of the posters don\'t get. Whenever there is above average scrutiny these \"suspects\" cant get their horses to perform. This is no coincidence!T he racing world is no different than other sports where every possible advantage is pursued, legal and illegal. Even when caught and confronted they deny to the end because they know that the case is circumstantial. Blood work is\"off\" but what they used can\'t be detected.

Quality Road was on his way to stardom before Pletcher got him and he ran out of his skin at Gulfstream park to start his 4yo campaign.
