Ask the Experts / Re: Hong 'King' Kong
December 25, 2014, 03:03:44 PM
It used to be that the USA got all of the extra horses from the UK. Now if they get up to a certain RP number they\'re quickly sold off to HK. We get the ones just below that level and the maidens who aren\'t rated.

Zenyatta wasn\'t at all hard to believe to me. That\'s because I saw Dulcia a mare win the National Thoroughbred Championship back in the late 70\'s.

Ask the Experts / Debussy information correction
August 21, 2010, 01:19:09 PM
The sheet shows Debussy having changed trainers three times. As far as I can tell Gosden has been his trainer his entire career.

I met Bobby Frankel in the 1976-77 at Santa Anita before he became famous. For a while he ran a handicapping breakfast and it was fun and informative.

I\'ve seen this before. 1975 Dulcia coming from dead last won the first National Thoroughbred Championship under Bill Shoemaker Trained by Charlie Whittingham. Royal Glint second and Tizna 3rd. Also in the race was Forceten, Ancient Title, Allez France, Messenger Song, Stonewalk and L\'Enjoleur.
