The 2nd race @ Sha Tin on Friday night was a 5F sprint. The winner paid $131.80 and as you might guess something went wrong.

I settled on a second time starter being ridden by a 5lb apprentice @7/1 named Hammer King. His first race @6F was credible and he showed early speed. My thinking a shorter distance, 2nd out you get the idea, the concern about an apprentice flashed through my mind but I was committed so, Fleetwood Mac(Oh Well)!.

No turns for 5F races in Hong Kong. Straightaway, what kind of trouble can you get into on a track that must be 100 yds wide? Of course my pick did, walled off behind a phalanx of 6-8 horses. It was obvious he had a burst but no where to go. Finally an opening and a quick move only to be broadsided and bounced a lane to the left. He must have made up four lengths in the last 60 yards. Being an apprentice not easy.

In the end a photo finish 4th or 5th. The horse was best I tell you so look for him next out. Hammer King

Does anyone know why TVG is not taking action on Hong Kong racing.
