Looks like NYRA out did themselves again. These are very full and competitive fields. The early card purses of $90K and up are encouraging and what the casino advocates said would happen did.

Not sure how great this years crop of horses is with all the injuries but the money they are running for is going in the right direction and the prestige is still the same.

Silver.

Its funny, as a horseplayer, I love how competitive the races are but as a horse owner, I hate how competitive the races are!

Make a grade 2 for 400k and you get a grade 1 horse dropping down to try and get \"easy money\" like IMLD.

By contrats, the grade 1\'s on the west coast this weekend are only 300k

obviously netting it all out its a great thing for the game that horses get to run for these purses but I sure didn\'t expect to run into the woodward winner in the Kelso 6 weeks ago when we laid out this plan with River Rocks

TGJB

Run into him getting a lot of weight...

yeah, I will tell you this, I have never in my life hoped that TG figures and principles (i.e. weight matters) are correct more than I do for Saturday.

We are fastest horse by a full point to start AND getting more than a points worth of weight and I know we are training great and yet somehow, I have no confidence whatsoever that we can win.

I am just going to trust the figures and the weight and try to get some sleep between now and then

I figured it might make a good race of the week given the figures and the weight vs. the fav and the fact that it\'s a manageable field to write up.

TGJB

I like the \"manageable\" euphemism. Good reasons, maybe I will-- but there are a ton of interesting races this weekend.

lol

yeah, bunch of great racing and I have to be on a plane to Hong Kong on Saturday for work and I am going to miss it all. No good

Plane takes off right after River Rocks race so I see a scenario emerging where I am in a fight with the flight attendant to keep the doors open for a few extra minutes so I can watch the race on my phone!  Ain\'t gonna be a pretty flight if they make me shut down before I know the result!!!!

TGJB

Somebody needs to shoot video of you trying to watch the race while they\'re calling final boarding.

lol

it ain\'t gonna be pretty and as you already know, I have a face and body that only radio can love to begin with so I don\'t belong on camera even on my best day (and pre race Sat I am likely to be very washed out)

hope u get the usual NY big day speed favoring surface and a golden rail to boot...feel ur pain about the IMLD situation though..tough horse to run into right now.

In the Jockey Club Gold Cup does can anyone surmise why Micromanage has been worked out the last two times on the turf?  This horse shows no races previously on the turf.

Strictly conjecture here:

1. Good way to leg a horse up in a short time.

2. Horse has developed foot issues.

Might want to check for bar shoes or aluminum pads tomorrow morning.

joemama

Bar shoes or aluminum pads?  Does wearing them indicate possible foot issues?

Your post reminded me of Dickens, \"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.\"  Thanks for sharing your view. Good luck with the race and, regarding the flight, maybe if you offer to place a small wager for the pilots and crew...

covelj70

Rzzle, thanks alot

great Dickens reference, really classing up the board!!!!!

love the idea of duking the crew, might go that route!

thanks again

Could be. Good luck getting the connections to talk.

Might be trying to take pressure off an area of the frog,
or perhaps protecting a quarter crack that is growing out.

These are auto-tosses for me, btw. Never been burned by doing
so. No foot, no horse. Hard enough to win when the feet are
100% healthy.
