DRF hard copy reportedly going to $9.00 effective June 1. Whole racing world gone f-king mad, seemingly trying to get more players to quit the game by making it too expensive to play.

Old Mr. Boston

To say nothing about what\'s left of their \"website\". DRF is a joke.

Looking to confirm . . .

Local Newspaper stand heard from delivery driver.

That is an unimpeachable source in these things, Mike. Newspapers have to let the wholesalers know at least 30 days out so that billing can be altered. With a June 1 change, by now the word has certainly filtered down to the street level. Believe it!

Silver Charm

The guy at the Dog Track stand, where I occasionally buy hardcopy, told me its going to $8.00 there from $7.50. Probably will be $9.00 at other retail distribution outlets.

This is driving everything to the Online Program which is a big profit maker for them. However they need a Create-a-Card Plan! Buying multiple tracks with many unplayable races is also senseless and too expensive!!

Newsstand on 79th and First has already installed plexiglass box with lock to house DRF.  Great PR move as it makes me feel wealthy.  Almost like buying jewelry.

The DRF\'s, CDI\'s and NYRA\'s just keep slapping the players in the face at a time when the customer base is shrinking.

Makes no sense.

Maybe they feel it\'s everyman for himself as the ship sinks.

Caradoc

And given the DRF\'s embarrassing, almost catastrophic failures of last week, raising prices now requires a rare type of cluelessness.

DRF now almost totally dependent on circulation revenues, as advertising dollars have all but dried up.

Bigredgoer

I stopped buying DRF 1 year ago, use BRIS for pp\'s and TG for everything else...DRF has \"left the building\" so to speak...Clueless and absolutely no disdain for the fan base/player out there..I feel bad for the \"old timers\" who go on the weekends get robbed from purchasing that \"rag\", and then have to search high and low for the last page of pp\'s for race 9 in NY....WTF...I heard Mr. Crist is ill, but who is, or will step up for the horseplayers...SOS, different day!
