So far so good. Gonna be a tad on the Cool side with Temps in low 60\'s At least it looks dry (as of today) after several years in a row where it has been wet and even downright soaked!!

There does appear to be some rain in the forecast through a lot of the early part of the week so the Turf course could be on the good side of firm by the weekend. At least with Temps not in the low 80\'s we can perhaps avoid some issues CD\'s has had in years past where the track is like a Superhighway loaded for early speed.

Perhaps Jerry can comment on moisture retention in the track if the conditions seem consistent most of the day through the weekend. At least it doesn appear we will be dealing with sealing, unsealing, etc etc track maintenance every other day and night once we get past late Thursday!!!

I\'m going for the 1st time ever and I sure hope the weather is good because I\'m in the cheap seats (Sec 125 Row F) and don\'t want to get rained on.  I\'m doing the poor man\'s trip with a friend-flying to Indianapolis Friday night, taking a cab to a Super 8 right next to where the Derby bus is picking us up & flying back Sunday morning. The poor man\'s trip means less money spent on the trip & more $ to bet with.

TGJB

Does the Super 8 have a bar?

I doubt it, we\'ll be getting in at midnight & have to get on the bus at 7, so there won\'t be much time.  I\'m not much of a drinker (my buddy is) but I\'ll probably try a julep at CD.

Save your money on the julep, lol

louisvilleguy1111

Trust me louisville resident here your not missing a thing!!

TGJB

The bar is for after the races, not before. I don\'t know if I\'ve ever not had a drink the night after a big race, especially attending.

Get some grey goose vodka mixed with your choice and it will taste much better! Then again in KY nothing like a Makers and Coke!

alydar61

Amen on the vodka.

Woodford Reserve on ice is very smooth.

Looks like it\'s going to be perfect . . . 60s and sun the ideal combo.

Toppled,
Enjoy your first Derby! I sat there in \'87 and didn\'t see Alysheba stumble until the 11pm news later that night. It\'s a zoo in that area to say the least. The buzz in the crowd (literally), My Old Kentucky Home and hearing that gate open make it worth your money though. There\'s no denying that the first two mint juleps are awful but the next four are delicious!  Make sure you take home a few julep glasses. They make for great souvenirs. I\'ve collected all but 11 of them. Now it\'s a hobby. Good luck to all on the board with their derby wagers. I don\'t post much but sure appreciate all the insight here. My 22nd Derby in person is less than a week a way!

Thanks. I\'m looking forward to it-we planned this in January and got our seats delivered over a week ago. I\'m too old at 60 not to have a seat to at least rest at.  I almost went last year but I couldn\'t figure out how to pick up seats going by bus 100+ miles away a week before the race.  I doubt I\'ll make it through one julep-I\'ll probably have to give half to my friend, I\'ve never been able to drink much & even though I\'ll probably put my bets in well in advance, I still want a relatively clear head.  Does the wifi work well at CD?  I\'m planning on putting most of my bets in online in my OTB account, but if that doesn\'t work well I\'ll phone them in. I figure if I hit any signers I\'m better off having all the paperwork in NY.

Wi-Fi is hit and miss. So many people,  so many cell phones. Its been better in recent years but still nothing to feel too confident about.  Phone calls as a back up is a solid plan.  The betting lines after race 6 look like they\'re giving away free money at the windows. Literally tens of thousands of $2 bettors in line with no clue what they\'re doing. The betting lines between the Woodford and Derby are the start of many a good fight! Best of luck!

This sounds like the small otb I have to use on derby day, 3 tellers long lines short tempers, lots of people betting who don\'t know what they are doing!
I Thought this problem was specific to N.C. Oklahoma.
