He has received very little attention and could go off at 7-1 or so. DRF posted a video of his gallop this morning. he did not look good at all. I am not a good judge at looking at horse but as Mike Welsch said he seemed to be having trouble with the surface. Thoughts?

Verranzano at 7/1 ???
No more Kool Aide for you.

11/2 (5.5-1) on sportsbooks..  I have a rule to not bet the best looking, most muscular horse on the ground.  Have dodged alot of short-priced lemons over the years with this policy.

well aware of the sports book odds. It will be higher though. would love to make a bet on that over. No respect at all.

Before this week, I had him as my only \"A\" horse, but that is of course pending workout information or any other developments.  I thought his workout was great but I\'m not so in love with the horse or blinded by that to consider others if things change.  I won\'t let one bad gallop report sway me, unless it turns into 3 bad gallops plus some other negative backside buzz from people who are at least half trust-worthy.

For all the great things I see on paper (pedigree, running style, pace/energy distrib, TG figs), have to be ready to adjust your thinking if current appearance doesn\'t match the paper.  I would never move to toss him and it would take quite a bit for me to get off him as my top play.

But if things are not 100% A+ on him, what I will do is possibly move some more horses up into my \"A\" category (for multi-race wagers) and Orb is definitely at the top of that list for me.  And mud helps the case for Orb IMO and closes that gap to Verrazano even further.

Not sure I see any others capable of being \"A\" horses yet, but then I go back and look at the archives from the year Giacamo won and realize that (unfortunately) just about anything is possible.

justwin.. Yeah I wasn\'t disagreeing with you.  I think the sportsbook odds actually indicate he\'s going to be nowhere near as short as some thing.  I seen some predicting 4/1, 7/2.

6-1, 7-1 is not impossible.  The only thing is that horses with 1st place finishes on their PPs tend to be favored by the general public.  Verrazano has that going for him.

For what it is worth a little birdie told me this morning that Calvin is doing a rain dance as we speak... I would think it moves Orb up as well.

Where and when did Welsh ever say he had a problem with his gallop? He cleared it up with Pletcher about bowing his head. He does it in every gallop. Go watch the tapes. vZ has one on 3 different tracks..the track in any condition won\'t be the reason if he gets beat.
