A plea to High Roller

High Roller,

As I said last year, I get it, you don\'t like me.

That\'s no problem.

There\'s a line going out the door and up the West Side Highway of people who never met me who don\'t like me because of where I work and what I do.

If I was too worried about what people who don\'t know me thought of me, I would have moved to a log cabin and lived in seclusion a decade ago.

No one is asking you to stop hating me, please, go right ahead.

But what I am begging you is to not post anymore of the personal stuff on the board.  This is the best time of the year in this game and on this board.  There are people who come here to learn about the game (that we all love) and share ideas about the big races coming up.  There are people who don\'t otherwise think about racing that much during the year that get interested this time of year and come to the board to check out to see what\'s going on.

When you post all of the attacks like last year and the most recent one, it ruins what\'s going on here for alot of good people.

So, please, I beg you, if you need to take shots at me, send me messages privately and spare everyone else that stuff because there are alot of people/friends on the board who step up to support me everytime you do that and that all just distracts from the great stuff that\'s going on this time of year.

Please!

Thanks alot,

Jim

All this hater stuff is comical - I don\'t know you from a hole in the wall. I have many people in the business who are friend\'s and I tell them the same thing.

It\'s a shame that the Derby has 20 horses in it. At least 6-7 are hopeless - by the time August rolls around most fan\'s cannot remember who ran in it.

Every couple of years a bomb hits and keeps hopes alive. One day there will be a tragic accident because of horses that don\'t belong in a 1 1/4 race and it will give a black eye to the Industry.

Why should I be quiet and not express my opinion?

Frank

High Roller,
The one race a year with 20 horses and huge pools. The best chance a gambler has to make a real hit and you\'re on this site calling it a shame.

Covelj50,
Good luck with River Rocks in the Lexington. Hope to see you in the winner\'s circle.

Lots of well meant horses run up the track, other longer prices run better.  Like Giacomo, ridden by the great Mike Smith.

When you can come up with a system that can eliminate the seemingly \"better\" horses, and at the same time keep the \"not so good horses\" that outperform their odds, let us know.

Nobody cares about you expressing your opinion, its sounding like a Dick to someone who seems like a really good guy (never had a chance to meet the man) that people have a problem with.

Jim, Although we have never met and I rarely post on this board, I must tell you that I enjoy your posts as they are well thought out and always interesting. Don\'t waste your time on people like High Roller and enjoy the roll you are on. I might not be betting on you Derby Day, but I\'ll certainly be rooting for you (and more than a little jealous of your position)....Good Luck, Ken

TGJB

...and that\'s the only point that really matters. If you had been culling, Mine That Bird probably would have been the first cut. If Jim\'s horse gets in it\'s because he earned his way in, like everyone else. And if he chooses not to go it will still be a 20 horse field, just with someone in who earned less points.

Covelj70,

Don\'t worry about the haters, keep doing what you do!!

I know you you said you would be there this morning for swift warrior\'s work. Just curious how you thought he did and curious if you were able to see the Golden Soul work? Sort of like him underneath if he can draw in.

Once again thanks for all you contribute here!!

jimbo66

Agree with TGJB.

Plus, it could be worse.

Falling Sky could have run those same prep races in California, in which case his figures would make him too slow and non-competitive.......  :)

covelj70

Hah, jimbo, that\'s awesome!

love it

thanks for all of the kind words guys, really appreciate it

covelj70

bstaubs,

thanks for the message, appreciate it.

I am actually heading down there on Friday night after I coach my sons baseball game so I wasn\'t there this morning.

I will definitely pass along anything of note that I see from any of the Derby and Oaks horses on Saturday and Sunday morning.

ColonelShillito

I wish this horse was in my stable. Provided that the horse was healthy and thriving, how could you not take a stab at etching YOUR name into the history of American sports?

I cannot imagine the out-of-body experience involved in 1) being on the backstretch Derby week 2) the draw 3) waking up Derby morning 4) the walk 5) My Old Kentucky Home 5) the race itself 6) watching the recorded NBC telecast 5,000 times till the DVR breaks.

Good luck to you, Mr. Covello.

high roller

That\'s makes my point - Owner\'s living vicariously through their horses - NOT for the benefit of the horse. Guaranteed Covello\'s horse finishes way back and then is knocked out for months!

TGJB

As opposed to all those other owners who put their horses through it for the horse\'s sake.

Colonel,

you have my thought process pretty much nailed!

can\'t say it any better than that

thanks alot

The kid\'s breeding is suspect. He\'s distance-challenged. He shouldn\'t be out there. I think you\'re just angling for a seat at the season-ending pancake breakfast.
