Dropped all the wednesdays..Makes sense to me..People\'s Paydays are Thursdays and Fridays and then the weekend gamblers get out to play..The Valentines day drop off is interesting..they probably looked at it historically and said it was just not the place that the wife / girlfriend wanted to be taken to for Valentines day..  From a gambler\'s perspective it all makes sense to me..from a worker\'s perspective, i just lost a day\'s wages..

yet another fatality today at the Big A. The 4/5 fav in the 6th race today looked off in warm ups and was dead last all the way around before breaking down.

Makes you wonder if the vets aren\'t checking these horse out?

I didn\'t see the race but the chart says that three horses were vet scratched out of it. The chart caller also guessed that the favorite died of cardiac arrest as he was eased and was jogging when he fell over.

Sounds like the vet had his/her hands full with this bunch. Oy!

Cheap races carded, with an inordinate number of unsound slugs, dominate garbage winter racing at Aqueduct.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the Aquebomb from Sunday, who won and paid over $200
with Jackie Davis in the saddle.

This was a runner(?) which could not break out of NW2 $5000 claiming condition at
Suffolk, but beats $12,500 claimers at NYRA. Not really surprising though because
it seems as if the $12,500 animals are the same grade of horses that were running
for $7,500 last winter.

I do not even look at NYRA entries any more, do not pass go, proceed directly to
the Gulf and Santa Anita. And speaking of which, best of luck to Jim Covello/Citrus
Kid in the Donn.
