Thoro-Graph states that he had no excuse in the derby??????
I don\'t really understand that statement.
First off he got a terrible post
Second he broke slow and then got bumped around/pinched back
Third J Lep has to pull him up around the first turn.
Fourth the 1 horse pukes and forces UR to check and move out.

All this being said UR completes the fastest final quarter in the derby. What am I missing? He may not have had a wide trip but he had a terrible trip.

2:13 in this video is a replay of Union Rags trip

Go to the windows.

The \"other\" Jerry Brown is wrong about this horse IMO.

Take the 5-1 and be grateful there are a ton of doubters! Don\'t go for \"conversions\".  It isn\'t religion, you won\'t get them.......

Agree with the two previous posts.  While I am a thorograph junkie and quite frankly don\'t play without them, I think derby speed figures are of little value.  The derby\'s 20 horse feel compromises 3/4\'s of the field and as such very few horses have an opportunity to run their race without interference.
Union rags paired his previous topsand surely would have run a new top had he not encountered traffic.  The wide trip was accounted for in the number but the multiple times he had to check was not!

The thoro form or what ever it is called suggest that he is 25% to run a new top (2) and 39% to pair.  What if he had run a 1 in the derby would his line suggest that he is ready to explode.  A new top puts him right with the fastest horses and he is sure to save ground from the 3 hole.  My biggest concern is his pedigree and ability to get the mile and a half

I\'m betting a Union rags , dullahan ex box and adding paynter in the tri. If Iha wins it is good for racing if he reacts to the tough campaign it is good for me

Jerry by the way thanks to thorograph I had a very very nice hit on rave reviews at Churchill on Sunday. He looked as good or better than any horse inthe race and paid $44 for the win along with a 2k tri. Thanks thorograph!!!

Sorry but I can\'t see UR suddenly waking up here.  Horse has had a chance in every race, now stretches out further than ever.  I\'m looking LONGER.  Odds wise.

JR

Gotta believe he lost any chance with his bad start and worse trip in the derby. Bad luck happens but I wouldn\'t base his future performance on his derby finish.

HP,

Guess we have different definitions of \"had a chance in every race\".  Not sure how you could watch the Derby and say he had a chance.

Good luck with \"looking longer\".  This race is full of despicable longshots.  Horses with miniscule chances to win (barring things like a sloppy track).  Hard to make any kind of sane argument for any horse other than I\'ll Have Another, Dullahan, Union Rags and Paynter.  Maybe a stretch case for Street Life, but even that is very difficult to do and almost impossible to imagine.

Union rags wake up?? This horse runs his eye balls out every time. He\'s been whipped I think a total of 5 times in last 3 races. Best 3yo in country bar none..pull the times and come homes they are staggering.. Florida derby-huge excuse. KD-I ripped my tickets in 1st quarter mile.

Pedigree-bottom side is loaded. Ooh and just has Gone West on bottom..hottest broodmare sire around. GW is sending them long everywhere..brilliant speed and awesome feather to just name 2.
You can always tell who\'s a square..when they start dissin rags..so funny.
Fuck racing there\'s no saving it (racing board in NY is living proof)...rags gets redemption on Saturday!

Have to think Rags likely to be affected most of all the major players from the detention barn requirement...it ain\'t Fair Hill.

Donut

Have you honestly ever been to a barn before?

slewzapper

Spare me (and the rest of this board) the condescending comments. I\'ve owned racehorses for twenty years.

If you have points to counter that the detention barn at Belmont is not going to be a significant issue for the horse, enlighten us.

The other major players have been at Belmont longer. Matz had to ship in earlier than he wanted to; he wanted to minimize the horse\'s time at Belmont.

The horse apparently gets turned out every day at Fair Hill. Now he\'s a prisoner in the barn except for training.

Welch of DRF commented Rags was washier than typical (for him) this AM on a cool morning.

The horse certainly has a potentially explosive pattern to win this race, and is much better odds than the favorite. There are factors outside of the sheets, however, that can impact upon whether he runs his race Saturday (as it is for all of them). My sense is that Rags has a greater potential to be unglued more than the other three favorites by the detention barn issue.

HP

Well Donut I\'m a square who hasn\'t been tearing up tickets betting on Union Rags.  Maybe you\'ll get your money back Saturday.  Good luck.
