She must be tired after carrying that Pletcher the final 50 yds.

Silver Charm

Agreed! Thats why she has had four winners today.

I met Julie one time at Ak-Sar-Ben, and she moved ME up...horses ran for her like they did for Steve Cauthen in his prime...she was, and is, the real deal.

Rosie is a fine rider. I like the way she finishes. Julie rode in another era, one that was far less hospitible to female riders; the obstacles Krone had to overcome are hard to imagine today. Julie also rode against greater competition, some of the best jocks ever, and she more than held her own with them. Julie was a much better athelete physically speaking as well. They have completely different riding styles too--the only common point is that are both female which really doesn\'t mean a whole lot. But as I said, I like Rosie. She\'s riding a lot of longshots very well these days when she competes on the bigger circuits. More power to her.

No disrespect to Rosie, who is by far the best female jockey out there now, but anybody over the age of 40 would either have to have a bad memory or be overly appreciative of a recent Rosie ticket they cashed.

Julie was WAY ahead of where Rose is now.  I wish I could hate her, as she costed me tons of money, constantly running me down late, especially on the turf.  But I have too much respect for her accomplishments to hate her.

Julie was a HOFer.

Rosie is becoming very good.  Not near Julie.

The comparisons of JK and RN are good and fair. But what you all seem to be either missing or hinting at : Horsemen really like RN. In contrast, when I worked at NYRA, it was my experience that NOBODY liked JK.

One time I asked JK \"Hey Julie, how come you never say hi to me when our paths cross?\" She replied \"Because you intimidate me\". I replied \" I intimidate YOU????\" You\'re a freakin\' millionaire!!! Lighten up girl!\". True story.

Yet another reason to like JK.

MO,

I am from CA, and I do like Julie Krone, but that\'s not really the point. The point is this:

You wrote:

\"when I worked at NYRA, it was my experience that NOBODY liked JK.\"

And that\'s a totally F###ed thing to write. How does one go about defending her against this? By questioning you, right? That\'s the only way? OK, tell me what Gary Stevens thinks of you.

MO

Your opinion. It was a personal encounter, and if JK wants to argue this point (or any other), why doncha give her a call and set up a round table in your back yard and film the discussion and post it on YouTube. You see, unlike JK and GS and a lot of other people in the business, I have NOTHING to hide, and NOTHING to be ashamed of. Deal with it, kid.

P.S. And I was only contrasting the personalities of the 2 riders.

Rich Curtis

More dark hints from the track bugler. One cannot make this up.

MO: We don\'t own this website, and it\'s pretty obvious where this thing is headed. If this string is still up tomorrow, I will reply in full--backyard and all.

PapaChach

heh heh...agree if she was disliked by the NYRAnians, it probably speaks well of her...

MO

Hey Rich,

Clearly you have a problem with me, the track bugler. What is that problem?

Jealousy?

was I the one who brought up JK smashing a jock over the head with a chair? no.

Was I the one who brought up Randy Romero dropping her over the rail for stealing mounts? No.

Pick your fights with them, because the perception here is that you are always picking fights with me. You have never responded to one of my posts with out a negative or a condecending tone.

HP

MO - I have to say Rich has a point.  If someone comes out and says \"Julie Krone hit someone with a chair\" that\'s one thing.  If you have something to say, come out and say it.  That\'s not what you\'re doing.  You\'re making innuendos or whatever.  You need to use your judgment - whatever you\'re referring to, is it really something you should be talking about or hinting at in a public forum?  Either come out with it or drop it.  And this \"I\'ve got nothing to hide, unlike JK, GS and others\" is lame as well.

Sorry but I don\'t know either one of you and maybe it helps to have an objective point of view here.

\"Either come out with it or drop it.\"

I thought I did when I described one (of many) encounters with her. Hey, I was the one who tried to be nice to her. I was dating a girl who rode with her. I have a lot of first hand knowledge about JK both good and bad, and frankly I take her side most of the time. The whole sexual harrassment thing with Pellegrino - I was there. Saw the whole thing happen. She was was not liked by anybody. That\'s the truth. And it was mostly jealousy on the part of the haters. And that\'s the truth too. She could ride the hell out of a horse - horses ran good for her. But she was a woman riding rings around her fellow male jocks on their own turf. And that sh!t don\'t fly on the track. It didn\'t with my girlfriend (who was the stable rider for my friend Braulio Baeza - wanna talk about jealous male jocks? How about  a Puerto Rican chick learning first hand from the guy who was running rings around Shoemaker when Bill was in his prime....), and it didn\'t with Julie.

To reiterate, my only point in joining this discussion was to highlight the difference in personalities between Rosie and Julie. And anyone who doesn\'t think that Rosie doesn\'t know the history of Julie Krone - and learned from it - and that this knowledge has contributed greatly to Rosies success is absolutely friggin clueless as to how this game is played.
