Which is not the same thing at all as \"We eighty sixed Covello\".

Congratulations to Jim Covello for the win of Swift Warrior (for once a good name, by the way) in the Rushaway stakes at Turfway. It was the 86th horse bought on recommendation of Thoro-Graph to win a stake for one of our customers.

Just curious.Did Jim C.also buy a colt by the name of Vee\'s Accolade?

covelj70

A couple of things.

First and most importantly, thanks to Jerry Brown for finding a really nice colt for me to buy and then being very adamant about getting me to buy it.

Yesterday was a great thrill for me and none of it happens without what Jerry brings to the table in this game which is unique and completely differentiated.  I of course have to thank John Terranova and his terrific staff as well.  They did an amazing job of getting this horse back to 100% health and having him ready off the layoff.

Second, thanks to everyone\'s really kind thoughts on the board.  I really appreciate it.  It\'s really fun to be part of a group of people that love racing so much and who are so gracious and generous with their thanks and suport.

Third, another client of John\'s bought Vee\'s Accolade.  I don\'t have anything to do with that one but John did mention on the ride home last night that he likes that horse alot.

Thanks again to everyone, especially Jerry

Thanks for the info on Vee\'s Accolade. We bred him and of course will follow his  c areer.Congrats on your purchase as I watched him compete at Calder and believe he is a very nice colt.Incidently,I believe we met at the Spa when I ran a horse named MamboMeister in the Fourstar Dave.Once again, good luck with colt.

Michael D.

Great win Jim. Always nice to see the good guys finish first. Good luck in the future with this colt.

Congrats to everyone...all around!

James:

Congrats on the win and according to DRF its on to the Blue Grass.

With your horses racing all over the US (and eventually dare I say Europe), I
think its time that you establish a website, something along say the scale of
Godolphin\'s website, with pictures, pedigrees, race records and daily updates
on all of your stock.

Or maybe TG could put together a \"special\" which includes the T- graphs for all
the runners in your barn who are of racing age.

I mean thats just what you need, right, having hundreds of \"Monday morning
trainers\"/silent non contributing partners giving you advice on where to run your
horses, when to work your horses, what jockeys to use, etc.

All kidding aside, great work and I am sure we will see you in the winners circle
again soon.

Congrats.  Must be a great feeling - seeing your horse (actually YOUR horse) getting to the line in a big race.

Envious.

Congrats Jim Covello, connections and TGJB on Swift Warrior.

Pretty cool finishing in front of some high proile outfits-Team Valor/Motion(on an incredible roll) and the Governor/Larry Jones.

Richie,

If we ever did such a thing, my first order of business would be to have you providing all of the written content for the site!  lol

thanks again to everyone for the wonderful comments and thoughts.  I am just as excited today as I was when the horse crossed the wire.  Sometimes, this can be the greatest game on the planet...just SOMETIMES.

Early indications are that the horse came out of the race well so if that continues to be the case, we will take a shot in the Blue Grass.

covelj70

Big,

The Governor/Larry Jones destyored my filly in the race before the Rushway with that monster War Front Summer Soiree so I didn\'t feel too guilty about beating him with the colt!

This War Front is a complete freak of a sire.  Not only only does he have two of the likely Derby Favs in Soldat and The Factor but he\'s also got one of the choices for the Oaks now with Summer Soiree and others that look great.

That stallion is a goldmine right now.

Nice write up over at Downey.  Lots of quotes from the man of the hour - and a nice plug for the site to boot:

\"We did indeed late nominate him. As long as he came out of the race well--so far, so good there--he will run in the Blue Grass,\" co-owner James Covello said by email. Saturday was the deadline for late nominations at a cost of $6,000.

That\'s where Covello and partner James Dolan came in. \"We bought him privately after the turf stake at Gulfstream in mid-January and we gave him a break since he had been so heavily raced,\" Covello said. \"John Terranova and his staff did a great job of having him ready to run off the layoff (in the Rushaway).

\"He got a 90 beyer for the race Saturday, and I think his sheet number is going to come back very solid as well. I think our numbers will fit well in the Blue Grass, especially since John didn't' have him fully cranked for the Rushaway.  The idea all along was to have him ready to run well first off the layoff but have the second race off the layoff be the big race.\"

Covello said Jerry Brown of Thorograph recommended the purchase of Swift Warrior, formerly owned and trained by Steve Dwoskin.

\"I am a avid user of Thorograph sheets, and Jerry Brown who runs Thorograph recommended the horse to me to buy. Jerry's angle was how good his turf sheet numbers were.... He had also run well on the dirt, so we always have that angle to go back to, but his sheet numbers on the turf are what really stood out and what gave Jerry and I the confidence to go forward with the deal.\"

Picking up Gomez for the Bluegrass surely doesn\'t hurt.
