DVR Alert!!!

Check your local listings and set your DVR--TVG is running a 1 hour \"Best of the Belmont\" show--I believe it will be on again at 1:30AM Eastern Friday morning--as well as at 8:30AM Eastern Friday morning--it shows in the program listings as TVG Classic.

They show the actual race footage and call of approximately 15-16 Belmonts starting with Secretatriat in 1973 and ending with 2007--they obviously skip some years, but it is all good.

It is just the race, with no commentary before or after--only some factoids--and limited commercials. I think most people will appreciate having some of these Classics recorded for future viewing--I don\'t know where else you would find them.

P-Dub: They\'ve been running this all week and its great. I\'ve watched it twice already.  Good stuff.

TGJB: You can probably guess my favorite. And everything else aside, Durkin\'s call (meaning the one at the track, not on TV), was the greatest call in history, and not because I was involved or because of the outcome. Check it out.

Meanwhile-- Bob Barry was nice enough (I guess) to send me the piece by Ragozin and Friedman in the Times about the Triple Crown. Aside from it being exactly what I have ben saying in public forums for over a decade, a) about a third of it is a commercial, and b) if someone who doesn\'t know better reads it, they will think the 11th st. boys are the guys behind Rachel. And it\'s clearly not unintentional.

magicnight: Thanks for the parenthetical. Don\'t go calling me \"nice\" on a late thursday afternoon ... I\'ll lose my edge!

And, btw, Gary Stevens considers VG\'s Belmont his greatest ride ever.

TGJB: As I have said here, it\'s the best ride I ever saw. Split horses 3 times, if he goes around any of them we lose.

After all this time I still can\'t stay seated watching that race.

in the unlikely event of Mine That Bird sweeping by everyone, Durkin will  compensate for his Derby debacle, it probably bothers him more than anybody
