Miff-- I agree with Jim that the stress is probably part of the cause of the crack.

JB,

Me too, but stress from the two minute lick that morning/mornings before, not from neg whatever 4 weeks ago.

Miff- I was never clear where exactly he took the bad step-2 yo turf race? IWR ? imo- unless they\'re  Big Iron on the board  , I cross them off the list if they back up more than 2 1/4 pts in their next subsequent race following an early season negative number effort with a forward move of aprx 3 point or more  . Still wrestling with this quarter issue stuff - Touch Gold certainly had remarkable campaign with one .

Mark,

Not sure if I know what \"bad step\" you are referring to but horses break down/get injured quite often from a bad step just galloping or breezing under no pressure.

I pretty much agree with early negative big top figs being a negative in many instances but I never use any angle(except bar shoe on) all of the time. If you do, you rule out any chance of catching the exceptions.

A good friend who uses the Rags is tossing QR(pattern looks perfect on Rags but not on TG),IWR and Dunkirk strictly because he feels they ran too fast, too early and have poor patterns going in.

Good luck next week.

Absolutely agree covelj70.  I loved Barbaro from the first time I saw his 2yo turf race and of course had him in the Derby.  When I saw him in the post parade at the Preakness, I jumped up and loaded up on Bernadini and told all the people sitting around me at the Med that something was wrong with Barbaro.  He looked nothing like what he looked like before.

Hey JB, I wonder if you were with Forbes when I was hanging out Saturday morning training hours with my friend Jimmy Crupi (late 80\'s early 90?) on the NJ circuit.  I know Jimmy respected Forbes, but those two guys were very competitive...miss those days
