They are calling them overnight stakes. You can find them in the condition book, on the website now.

Nice purses-- nw1x statebred slow rats (except for the one I\'m involved with)-- 61k.

Thanks for the clarification TGJB, but I STILL won\'t go there that weekend!!  That is unless TGAB is giving the seminar that weekend, as it is ALWAYS worth it to be there when TGAB is leading it :)

Seriously, I saw the same list that Ill-Bred saw from the NYRA site and there was only 1 stake listed.  Six overnight stakes is a little better, but I like the Grade 1 per weekend format myself.

>I much prefer the statebred model where you give them exra purse money for winning or finishing itm vs. open company. That encourages the statebred breeders to strive for better horses, instead of rewarding mediocrity. <

Anything that gives breeders (and owners) an incentive will result in more statebreds. IMO, there is no real reason to have a successful NY breeding industry over and above what the participants can accomplish on their own. The quality of the NY horses might wind up being lower without incentives, but the overall quality of racing in NY would be higher.
