well, at least we don't have to worry about Dutrow being overconfident

Rick Dutrow on Casino Drive

\"He\'s got no chance of beating our horse,\" Dutrow told reporters Wednesday. \"I\'ll be in the winner\'s circle when they get to the quarter pole. That\'s how I feel. I don\'t see that this horse can beat him.\"

Dutrow did say that he believes Big Brown will run past the Belmont Stakes, even if the horse becomes just the second undefeated Triple Crown winner in history. Dutrow said Big Brown\'s goals would be the Travers at Saratoga on Aug. 23 and the Breeders\' Cup Classic at Santa Anita on Oct. 25.

Dutrow said he would relish a meeting between Big Brown and defending Horse of the Year Curlin.

\"I would like to see them run against each other,\'\' Dutrow said. \"It would be good for racing, it would be good for us, it wouldn\'t be so good for them.\'\'

Big Brown is bred to be even better on Cushion than dirt.

Dudley

How well is he bred to handle a \'big sandy\' track?

Flighted Iron

Seems like he hasn\'t found one he didn\'t like.

Dudley

True enough to this point. And while I don\'t expect the configuration of BEL to do anything but aid BB, the surface itself is one question that Casino Drive has already answered.

Uncle Buck

Who is going in the Belmont? How many? Any legit contenders to fill out the exacta other than Dennis, Macho Man and Casino Drive?

hossgnat

I seem to remember reading somewhere that no TC winner has captured the Belmont without a previous effort over the surface.  Interesting, if true, or not.

Silver Charm

Dutrow is receiving a considerable amount of coverage for these comments. Pardon the Interruption had something to say as did Around the Horn. I would like to see ABC take him up on his comments and ask they provide isolated camera coverage of Dutrow leaving the paddock and walking straight into The Winners Circle.

Perhaps in the middle of a Scores sandwich as he referred to the other day.

You want to get the young viewers involved this is how you do it. Just ask Pro-Wrestling.

Except they were using less Steroids than the Law says he he can.......

Flighted Iron

The surface was listed as \"good\" to start the day,but didn\'t it become fast
later in the day? If that\'s the case, then good horses run well for the most part
over all dirt surfaces barring the presence of wetness.Casino Drive\'s answer to
me wasn\'t so much as he could handle Belmont, but how fast he did run and subsequently will run.

Flighted Iron

Interesting fact if true, but we\'ve had some much bigger firsts as of late.Barring on off track, imo talent will run on any dirt thrown at it.
The bulk of the debate on this board seems to be form cycle.Forget numbers for
a moment, does BB look as if he\'s gone off form in any way?

TGJB

You might not believe it from the chit chat today, but this board is actually supposed to be mostly about numbers and form cycles.

On the contrary. Some 25 years ago at Bowie I hit 2 pick 6\'s within the span
of a month mostly by looking at the \"then\" sheets. However,On one of the legs a horse with absolutely no number popped up and won. When I asked the trainer of
the horse if he was still alive in the pick six he said \"no,I threw my horse out\".
He asked me almost astonishingly,\"you used my horse?\".I love debating numbers
and cycles, but sometimes it just feels right when it may look wrong.

Flighted Iron

Coincindentally this is the same gentleman/trainer who thinks BB\'s bounce
is a healthy bounce and will probably move forward.Suppose time will tell.

I\'d like to remind you all for what it\'s worth -about how Kent Desormeaux described riding BB in the Preakness- He said he was \"Cantering\" the first half mile -he was put under restraint -he let him go and then eased him up well before the finish. Cantering.
