Michael: Please stop posting on the other board. It\'s the road to serfdom. Instead, how about answering my question about late fractions in 1 1/4 races. You promised, pal.

Michael D.

Alydar,
Calpundit.com ? Who is that guy? I think you should get a copy of The Road to Serfdom and read it through a few times, just to make sure you don\'t get brainwashed by all that liberal propaganda (it was good to read the NY Post\'s editorial on the Nobel Peace Prize again though). I have to update my Classic list again, a few important contenders have popped up. I will do it tomorrow, with an explanation on why I use late pace numbers to handicap the Classic (too many Columbus day carryovers to do it tonight).........

kev

MILWAUKEE BREW   what about this guy?? 12-1 to 15-1

Michael D.

needs the race to collapse a bit at the end to get up in time. i think he lacks the class to win a fast running of the classic.
12-1 to 15-1 seem like fair odds to me.

Michael: This is my reward for defending you and your ROI/momentum crap? The next time those subjects come up, I\'m going to prosecute. It\'s an easier job, really.

In order:

\"Alydar,

No idea. Someone gave me the link. But I thought he did a good job. It was a nice parody of political sites, as he intended, and an even better parody of racing message boards.

\"I think you should get a copy of The Road to Serfdom and read it through a few times, just to make sure you don\'t get brainwashed by all that liberal propaganda\"

I\'m quite familiar with it, which is why I reject it. Try \"Das Kapital,\" pal. It\'s time to get serious.

\"it was good to read the NY Post\'s editorial on the Nobel Peace Prize again though\"

Yeah, sure. Maybe Reagan and Bush One should get one for supporting Saddam Hussein AFTER he used chemical weapons against the Iranians and the Kurds. Ask Rupert about that, Michael. Hell, maybe Rupert should get one for the great work he\'s done with Chinese butchers.

\"I will do it tomorrow, with an explanation on why I use late pace numbers to handicap the Classic (too many Columbus day carryovers to do it tonight).\"

See that you do this time. Pile up enough of those tomorrows...

Michael D.

Alydar,
OK, I did promise a response last week.... tonight for sure.

Alydar: \"I am quite familiar with it, which is why I reject it.\" My friend, being familiar with it and reading it through a few times are not the same........ I have read \"The Communist Manifesto\" and \"Das Kapital\" in their entirety (which is quite a task), as well as a few other books by the utopian twins. I actually enjoy reading their work. I never feel more correct in my views than when I travel through Central Europe, and then come home and read about the theories that made those people go down that awful path..............(try finding a  copy of \"Das Kapital\" in a Prague bookstore)

Back to horse racing tonight. Let me know what you think of my reasoning....... take it easy.

Aly,

I guess good deeds are their own reward. HP

JB, helluva job on thr ROTW yesterday. I just played Rock Opera and Johar over the other 3 horses you gave a chance (Ines, Man, and Mountain Rage) in the Superfecta and had a nice day. Probably should have put a bit more faith in the Quinella but I had this vision of Inesperado getting his nose between them.
On the Classic front, why is Momentum getting ignored? He runs the fastest numbers, his last race wasn\'t bad (PP will not run that race again) and he has consistently beat Mil. Brew. I\'ve been crazy busy lately but last I heard Dollase was still going. Seems like it\'s between him, Came Home and maybe Hawk Wing since the Euros keep coming up better thanwe expect.

Alan wrote ROTW this week, and I haven\'t even had time to read it. Sounds like I should have.

HP: Please do me two favors:

1: Call me Alydar. I love the name, and I loved the horse. \"Aly\" reminds me of an old Giants placekicker whom I would rather forget.

2: Send me an email: lindsayd88@yahoo.com I\'ll give you my real email address if I receive one from you. This is long overdue. No hard feelings if you choose not to. Your call.

Michael: The title is a joke that you had better get. Here\'s a clue: \"Property is theft.\"

You wrote: \"OK, I did promise a response last week.... tonight for sure.\"

I\'ll let this go. It\'s too easy.

\" I have read \"The Communist Manifesto\" and \"Das Kapital\" in their entirety  (which is quite a task)

This is hilarious. No one who has read both books would ever write a sentence so preposterous. \"The Communist Manifesto\" is little more than a pamphlet. It can be read in 20 minutes over a rum and coke. \"Das Kapital\" is in four volumes comprising 2500 pages. Volumes two, three, and four are read only by professional economists. The exceptions to that rule ARE NOT people who butcher Keynes\' most famous line every time they utter it. You, Michael, are a professional butcher of a line every college economics student learns the first day of class.

\"as well as a few other books by the utopian twins.\"

Wrong. Marx and Engels wrote almost nothing about what a communist society would look like. You\'re confusing them with the utopian socialists: Owen, Fourier, etc.

\"I never feel more correct in my views than when I travel through Central Europe, and then come home and read about the theories that made those people go down that awful path.\"

This is history for simpletons. If Marx caused Stalin, Hayek caused Pinochet and the other Latin American homicidal maniacs.

\"(try finding a copy of \"Das Kapital\" in a Prague bookstore)\"

Czech it out from a library.

Michael D.

I like the title, and I like you as well. Three of the ten guys on my desk in London were European socialists (two of them scored perfect on their SAT\'s). I enjoy discussing these topics with intelligent people. I have, however, studied this stuff for seventeen years, and yes, I have read several English language versions of \"Das Kapital\" and \"The Manifesto\". One version of the writings my professor in college used was about 700 pages long, I think about 200 pages devoted to the writings that eventually made up \"The Manifesto\". The thing was not written in twenty minutes as you seem to think (I will try to find out how many of the utopian twins writings actually went into their final version of \"The Manifesto\", I know many scholars have written on the subject). If you start getting more of your info from the London School of Economics, and less from Amazon.com, you will be more informed. I have met at least ten finance ministers in the Central and Eastern European countries, and have spoken to thousands of citizens from these countries. Your post contains numerous errors, and ignores the most important point: you have never even read Hayek, and most likely have never even witnessed the damage socialism did to Europe. Clean up your pile of crap my friend, then I will respond. I really want to believe you are an intelligent liberal, not just a pissed off radical.

Michael D.

Alydar,
You are a good guy, I will send you over my e-mail. I love discussing these type of topics, and in ten days or so I will lose interest in horse racing (and therefore this site) for about three or four months.

    Michael,

     \"The Poverty of Philosophy\" was Marx\'s devastating rejoinder to Pierre (\"Property is theft\") Proudhon\'s \"The Philosophy of Poverty.\"

\"The Communist Manifesto\" is a TINY book that is written in clear, simple language. It was written to be read by the masses. In this regard it is similar to Thomas Paine\'s \"Common Sense,\" though Paine was a better writer, an absolutely superb writer.

The final volume of \"Das Kapital\" came out 60 years after \"The Communist Manifesto.\"
\"Das Kapital\" was written for specialists. The way you lump the books together is very, well, revealing.

You wrote: \"Your post contains numerous errors\"

I reread it. It contains no errors of fact. Our opinions are miles apart, and they can be expected to stay that way.

\"you have never even read Hayek, and most likely have never even witnessed the damage socialism did to Europe.\"

Michael, I have been meaning to tell you that it\'s unbecoming to run around saying you\'ve read this book eight times and this book 12 times. That you have read certain books should be demonstrated by the logic and cogency of your arguments. Didn\'t you see the movie \"The Paper Chase\"? Law student to Professor Kingsfield: \"I have a photographic memory.\" Kingsfield: \"A photographic memory will be of absolutely no use to you in my class unless you learn to analyze all those facts between your ears.\" (Did I get it right, David?)

\"I really want to believe you are an intelligent liberal, not just a pissed off radical.\"

What difference does it make, Michael? My girlfriend worships Bill Clinton. I think he\'s vile--personally and politically. The pool of people who share my politics is tiny. I insist on choosing my friends from a bigger pool.

Can we please end this now?
