I had GF in my top 3 , so 6-1 didn\'t surprise me -  though I wound up going w/ the dummy play on the closer Porto Santo ... Say if GF had  gone from 8-1 to 7-2 ( or less ) in between the gate opening and quarter pole , then I\'d be more inclined to belive that something funny happend ...

Marcus,

I wasn\'t referring to GF in my post about 6-1 to 7/2.

Totally different race.....same type of late betting action with size

My apologies brokerstrip for any misunderstanding -  I follow so cal as well and have noticed the odds and price anomilies throughout the dmr meet  . I\'m at a loss to characterize it or compare it to other circuts  ...

I think a lot of the Internet money goes in \'batch mode\' rather than as it\'s actually wagered which dumps a ton of money all at once.  I finally gave up playing TP for this reason after betting a horse at 9/2 going in the gate, 7/2 as the gate opens and 5/2 going into the stretch.  Don\'t know if this would make a horse jump 7.5 points in one flash, but it could make several hundred wagers look like one huge one.

Marcus,

I\'m sure I probably wasn\'t exactly clear.

Have observed similiar tote action at this meet.
Never noticed it at Hollywood or SA.

Strange ....very strange.

Can we be certain that the internet money is actually going into the pools?

All of it?

Is my offshore wagering site \"booking\" my bets? Or all bets under a certain amount?

Who monitors this?

Rich  If you are betting thru Pinacle on line the money does not go into the pools which is why I use it at tracks for pick 3\'s and 4\'s at tracks with small pools reguardless of smaller rebate.  Second point is there is a large bettor out of So. Dakota and or Las vegas that can change the odds himself as referanced in this thread. If you know major bettors in Las Vegas they will understand what I\'m saying.Do not think that one bettor can\'t effect in this way.I don\'t believe he is betting after the start only right at the start which takes time to transmit to the race site. If anyone disagrees with this I would like to hear your view. I DON\'T BELIEVE IT AFFECT ANYTHING AS HE STILL HAS TO BET THE CORRECT HORSE.ONLY AREA OF CONCERN,OF COURSE, IS THAT YOU HAVE MADE YOUR BET BASED ON THE VALUE OF THE CHANCE AND THE ODDS AND IT PLAYS HAVOC WITH EXECUTING THAT STRATEGY.    Randy

I have commented before on betting patterns and the tote.

I don\'t know about this case, but I do know not 1 in 10,000 horseplayers have a clue as to how the tote really works. I see many posts to confirm this.

Now, has anyone calculated how much $ was bet on this horse at the end to knock its odds down?  I\'ll bet it was less than most think.

If  they are actually betting after the start, would they not be stupid to call attn to it in this way?

The cancelling (and I know for a fact that it USED to go on, not sure about today), would have to be HUGE to affect the odds dramatically.  On the order of $10,000 + in the win pool. That\'s a lot of cancel at the bell, and would have to be done by a hub, not on a per ticket basis.

I\'ve also mentioned that the exacta pools are a lot more anamolous on a DAILY basis than most realize. All sorts of crazy payoffs, mostly TOO LOW  that never materialize. So when one connects, you get the ooohs and ahhhs.

If you bet every \'smashed #\" you\'d be broke faster than a raggie with dyslexia.
