Briefly,I mentioned an opinion that maybe the super vet(s) can only rehab an animal, not induce new found speed into an existing horse.
By this I meant basically; a younger steed can not be induced to run faster or farther because said animal has not had enough races to tear him down and/or introduce bad habits into his/her regimen.
the super trainers that get their stock down to a certain # and keep it there seem to excell at improving the horses ability to get max. performance from each breath.
could this be why those same trainers have yet to win the derby?
P.S.   when writng about keyed entry in a previous thread,I mentioned his inability to go a classical distance. then i said get allday on him and next year he\'ll win the b.c. I meant THE CLASSIC.

your premise is that \"The super trainers with their vets have not won the Derby thus their elixir doesnt work on maturing 3YO\'s\"

I\'m not sure theres enough data to draw that conclusion. And although to my mind the super vet era begins in 2000 after the triple crown races, I\'m not sure the super vets haven\'t already scored the Derby.

If we restrict our super vet inquiry to White Mercedes and the Gang of Four, correct, Pletcher, Frankel, Asmussen and Dutrow have not come up with the Derby. Frankel does have a Belmont, and that one used both Juice and Ambush.

It may be that your premise is correct. It may be that developing horses get more benefit from nature than chemistry. They are certainly growing like weeds and progressing by leaps and bounds at this time. The reality may be that chemicals and the syringe are not going to help them as much as it does when they are mature muscled animals.

Ambush was Frankels plan for the Belmont the year Empire Faker won it. He ran both Peace Rules and Empire at Funny Cide in the Derby. He took Empire off the triple crown trail for five weeks of  \"working on the horse\" but ran Peace Rules hard at Funny Cide in the Preakness. Peace Rules caved of course, but three weeks later he gave Peace Rules the week off and he and White Mercedes were positioned to steal one with science. It was a tag team steel cage match ambush. Peace Rules and Empire Maker with Frankel and White Mercedes vs. Funny Cide and No Mojo Tagg.

P.S. Peace Rules was the poster horse for chemistry both that year and the next.
