Always good to hear from someone who gets it. Spot on sir.

Good Luck,

I agree. I have watched the tape several times and the contact between the horses was initiated by the winner looking for a seam entering the top of the stretch, while Prat was simply trying to maintain his position.
Regardless of how Journalism landed in that spot, there are very few horses that would take that type of negative contact from both inside and outside rivals in the stretch and continue running like a fullback that had just ran over the D-Line. This horse is a pit bull.

P-Dub

Most of the time, yes they are.

You finally posted something accurate

Saying Rispoli is the reason the 1 came over is ridiculous

A hole opened briefly, Rispoli took it.  Prat knew it and recklessly sawed him off.

P-Dub

Ok Joey, someone agrees with you so they must \"get it\"

And you cry about me having to be right

Again Prat veers out briefly creating space for Journalism.  Prat was going to go around the 2 leaders.

Rispoli took it and Prat steered his horse into him

He received a 98 Beyer.
What ever number JB and crew gives him, it will definitely make his sheet look a not a too good.
Still can’t believe the heart on this horse.

Leaving aside what happened at the top of the stretch, I suspect that one of the reasons that Rispoli was in that spot (going inside rather than around) was that he was less than confident about how much horse he had.  I have watched both race calls, so I don\'t remember which one, but someone mentioned that Journalism was having to be niggled along on the backstretch.  (I also suspect that the incident may have pissed the horse off enough to motivate his final surge.)  That need for motivation on the backstretch may suggest that the gas tank is being drained and that he\'s a bet-against if he shows up in Saratoga in three weeks.

He may well need a break after these recent efforts. I have no doubt that the connections will do right by the horse.

In the Santa Anita Derby, even though it was only a 5 horse field, Rispoli managed to get this horse in a horrible spot on the rail entering the far turn. He exchanged several leans and bumps with Barnes to his outside and was clearly uncomfortable. Rispoli had to vigorously ride him to finally get him off the rail and in the clear where he responded with an impressive outside move on the turn for the win.
In the Derby. he had a slow break. lost his path in traffic , and ended up in a very tight spot into the first turn. He finally found an open spot on the backstretch and after guided off the rail, he made a very strong wide move to the wire.

In my opinion, he has shown a lot of GRIT with less than ideal trips in his recent races.

Did Crudo run the best 3 yo race of the day on Saturday?

I would think we are looking at him jumping to a TG 2.

A $520,000 RNA out of justify. Per TG, I don\'t see I lot of stakes winners out of the dam but the Travers must be in his future.

Roman

Rispoli did seem to panic going into the far turn. Could be the reason he decided to split horses instead of taking the overland route. I think the horse even suprised him, hence the ride.

Roman

Maybe, I think Gosger ran the best fig in the Preakness.

P-Dub --That\'s your opinion and I respect it even if I don\'t agree with it.

What I and most others on here DO NOT do is respond with things like \"your opinion is ridiculous.\"

Understand the difference now?

Good Luck,

Prat steered GO out for clear run down the stretch. Rispoli saw that and darted for the hole. Unfortunately for Umberto, GO drifted back in within a matter of seconds. Just one of those bang-bang things.

Not sure why GO went back in, but I suspect it was due to immaturity and not something Prat wanted.

Crudo is out of Blossomed, by Deputy Minister. She has done pretty well for herself. A foal of 2003, she resold in 2018 for $425k in foal to Honor Code. This was likely after her daughter Sippican Harbor (by Orb) won the G1 Spinaway as a 2yo at Saratoga. She (SH) later resold for $1.45M in foal to Medaglia d\'Oro.

She (Blossomed) also dropped a full sister to Crudo by the name of Awesome Result in 2020. That one went 7-7 in Japan earning 138,430,00. I don\'t follow racing there, but it seems she can run very well.

And for the record, they are both BY Justify, lol.

BitPlayer

Well, that opinion didn\'t work out.
