Got you back 5-1 odds with 25% of the field leveraged. If you consider that about 6 others in the field had no shot you might have had 35% leveraged. The Tri probably paid even better

All one had to do was say Pletcher doesn\'t fire in the Derby. The Stats back that up. And then Wing it.

McPeek flat out said we may do something here. I don\'t think he was sure how good what he was relative to everyone else. But they were gonna fire and had a plan. Yes B Hernandez is Calvin Borel 2.0 as the Seminar said.

Sierra Leone should have come down if Maximum Security got DQ\'d. Right? All this Tyler \"Hero\" bullsh!t. He plays for the Miami Heat and Tyler Gafflione is a Jockey. Your left hand and whip hand can\'t strike another horse. It\'s not he just kinda did. Maximum Securoty just kinda drift out toooo.

S.L should of come down 100%

PLETCHER NEVER AGAIN!!

Question on Gaffalione\'s actions - does he get suspended for doing it?

Apparently the allegation is that it was justified on safety concerns - however, how safe is reaching out and grabbing another rider\'s horse or reins?

I don\'t ride, so I cannot speak authoritatively on it.  However, I can say I have been watching thousands of races for 50 years and I do not recall this \"safety\" manuever being undertaken before.  Is it possible it is such a rare situation it is only called for every 50 years or so?

Of course, there were famous times where jockeys got into fist fights and hit the other horse, but none of those were alleged to be safety based.  I am talking about a situation where one jockey grabs the other jockey\'s horse and/or reins and it is forgiven as required by safety.

It seems to me that if Gafflione is NOT suspended, then we should start seeing a lot more of these \"safety\" moves as the photo finish camera nears.

Putting aside the the other multiple infractions, like knocking FY off stride at least twice, is touching or striking another horse during the running of the race a foul?

I think there are two questions (1) is it a foul that can be the basis of an objection to the finish order and (2) is it something that is condoned by the authorities as justified by safety.

For example, excessive whipping can\'t be the basis for an objection or changing positions, but it can be punished on safety grounds.

So, I would make Roman\'s question a two part question.

Roman

I am almost positive that touching or striking is not allowed. SL should of been placed third just for that. Never mind the contact in the stretch. Just to be honest, my view may be tainted as like an idiot I keyed FY on top.

Thinking SL cost FY the win, which could be subjective, I believe he did, even when I try to remove my bias, the human/jockey contact is a no brainer.

Roman

Hypothetical, if FY & SL finished 1-2, would there have been a disqualification?

I\'m sure the stewards also saw the Paco Lopez move Hernandez put n Track Phantom when he blew through on the rail. And Track Phantom was the leader at that moment

Now two wrongs don\'t make a right, but it was the best real horse race world tv has just about ever seen

Before the race McPeek said if everything went their way \"they could do something\"
After the race Hernandez said he studied Calvin Orel\'s great rail rides

As to Sierra Leone, his \'lugging in\' is not a soundness issue. It is simpky a very dominant move by a very dominant colt. He focuses on the leader and then dive bombs them. He.hasn\'t grasped that it is the wire.he is running for.
The two times he has been beat is by aezssr horse on digging the rail.

He is, IMO, head and shohlders ghe best horse in this crop. He will be back with big wins this year

Kudos to McPeek and Bernandez

Tbis is borseracing. How can you not love it
?

IMO,

Roman

Hernandez created that hole, gutsy move that could of ended badly.

TreadHead

Someone pasted the KY riding rules in a tweet over the weekend, striking another horse is expressly forbidden and there is zero language about it \"being OK for safety reasons\", that\'s just complete BS apologists made up.

Boscar Obarra

They ought to pay Hernandez double the fee for that ride. Risking life and limb with that move.

If a Rider in New York drifts out even 6 inches into the Path of a runner owned by Brandt and ridden by an Ortiz he is coming down. Period.
