Wow:

\"Louis Cella, the owner and president of Oaklawn Park, said the commission was \'grabbing the bull by the horns.\'

\'We will not have a situation like in California, where a horse ran in the Kentucky Derby after failing a drug test,\' Cella said, referring to a test failed by Justify, the 2018 Triple Crown winner. \'That was an embarrassment to the industry. We will push to have this cleared up by the Belmont Stakes.\'\"

And, as you would: \"Baffert has exercised his right to have a second test run on the samples, which can take a week or longer. Baffert did not return phone calls, texts or emails from The New York Times.\"

The information in the NY Times article that Justify had more scopolamine in his system than could reasonably come from environmental contamination (at least according to one expert) is news to me.

Maybe others had heard this but I hadn\'t.

Thus proving the effectiveness of the cover-up.

I guess they sent Max to the right barn.

“We will not have a situation like in California, where a horse ran in the Kentucky Derby after failing a drug test,“

What? The Kentucky Derby was run in California?

Kind of unfortunate to me in two ways:

1) In a normal year, the loss of Derby points in the Ark Derby would probably
result in Charlatan being excluded from the Kentucky Derby. This year Charlatan
will have plenty of opportunities to regain the points he will lose if
disqualified.

2) The Teflon Trainer will escape relatively unscathed. He will continue to be
entrusted with top quality bloodstock. Because he is who he is, the sanctioning
bodies will not connect the dots, looking at past infractions and incidents and
concluding that said trainer has, for years, operated in the gray areas.

Baffert trained Midnight Lute, who won the Breeders Cup Sprint at Monmouth, I
think in 2008. As a stallion, Midnight Lute has sired 1324 turf starters with 7
turf stakes winners. Midnight Lute had two turf stakes winners over the
weekend: Smooth Like Strait in the War Chant at CD and Keeper Of the Stars in
the Gazelle at SA

You know Frank this stuff drove me to a year long sabbatical, I think my next break will be permanent.  Hope you’re doing well!,,

Speaking of next breaks- Nadal- condylar fracture!

I have some familiarity with lab work, but none with how the split sample process works.  I know that if the split samples came back positive, it will be a while before the stewards act.  If, however, the split samples came back negative, we should have heard something by now, right?

Does Gamine\'s drug situation have an impact on the Acorn?  Other than Baffert magic in NY, she looks like a false favorite to me at 1-1 ML.

I am ignoring the lidocaine positive.  I suspect Gamine looks better on other figures. See this thread:
