There must be a logical reason why Kentucky Downs is not in the Racing Form.
If anybody knows why please let me know so I can simmer down.

TGJB

The most logical reason of all.

I just went from simmering to a full fledged boil.
Exactly what I didn\'t want to believe.

Believe it. No pay, no play, and the Eastern-Edition-reading-horseplayer be damned.

TGJB

Unless you guys know something I don\'t, they\'re not running today.

I figured he meant Saturday\'s edition, which, admittedly, I have not seen.

EDIT: I also assumed ...
a. KD was not in Thursday\'s eastern edition (never saw it)
b. That the new management team at KD declined to pony up to be included in the eastern edition (similar to CD in recent months)
c. That when you said \"the most logical reason of all\" you meant \"money\"

That\'s a few too many assumptions, so ... apologies. Last night was, for me anyway, a late one.

Speaking of Saturday at KY Downs.  Jerry can you give a range of a figure for the Casse horse Souper Dormy who ran July 12th in the 5th at Ellis?

TGJB

They were all first timers and none have run back since. Based on the other grass sprint that day it would be about a 13.

Just want to make sure we are talking about the same race. According to the form, the horse that ran second won next out.  The race was 8 weeks ago -- hard to imagine none of them would have run back in 8 weeks, no?

TGJB

You\'re right, I was given bad info. But it ends up pretty close, 12 1/2 pending review when more have run back.

I am sure this has been discussed before, but why no Chad Brown or Todd Pletcher at KD? Up until last year, Saratoga was the Chad and Todd show, but now it is mostly the Chad show as he finished with 41 winners, but Todd was still a solid second at 19 wins. I know that TAP has been traditionally thought of as a trainer who excelled with juveniles, but he has not been devoid of turf starters. In fact, since 2015 TAP has the second most turf winners at Saratoga - 46. It pales in comparison to Chad with 129, so why do both avoid KD and the huge purses? It just seems like a logical extension of the Saratoga meet for grass horses. Since 2015, they have had only 5 starters between them (and Chad Brown has just had one to Pletcher\'s four). It seems like a meet where both could be really strong. Does it have something to do with stalls? The venue? They both regularly race in Kentucky as they are seen often at Kee and occasionally at CD, so it does not appear to be a state issue, Anybody know? For the record, it is nice to NOT have to worry about either one in a race for change, but I have been curious as to why they do not run more horses given there is almost 4 million dollars up for grabs Saturday. Here is the KD line-up with purses:

Race 1. $130,000. Maiden Special Weight. 6 1/2 Furlongs
Race 2. $145,000. Allowance. 1 5/16 Miles
Race 3. $130,000. Maiden Special Weight. 1 Mile
Race 4. $145,000. Allowance. 6 1/2 Furlongs
Race 5. $130,000. Maiden Special Weight. 6 1/2 Furlongs
Race 6. $500,000. Kentucky Downs Juvenile Turf Sprint S. 6 1/2 Furlongs
Race 7. $700,000. Runhappy Turf Sprint S. 6 Furlongs
Race 8. $500,000. Three Chimneys Ladies Turf S. 1 Mile
Race 9. $500,000. Spendthrift Farm Ladies Sprint S. 6 1/2 Furlongs
Race 10. $1,000,000. Calumet Farm Kentucky Turf Cup S. 1 1/2 Miles

Pletcher has 3 in this weekend at KY Downs.
Sat $1,000,000 Turf Cup
Sun $600,000 Dueling Grounds Derby
Sun $350,000 Dueling Grounds Oaks
It is Brown that most interests me with his avoidance.
