Laurel has also cancelled racing for the weekend.

Monmouth is in a tough spot. On the one hand, with the closing of Saratoga and to
a lesser extent Laurel, Monmouth could have a monster day in terms of off track
handle.

On the other hand, Monmouth enjoys its biggest live gate of its racing meet, by
far, on Haskell Day. Lets say Monmouth management was expecting 35,000 people on
Saturday. Given the expected temperatures, and the fact that the Monmouth
grandstand is not enclosed or air conditioned, I would be surprised if they would
be able to draw a crowd of more than 10,000 - 12,000 people.

Tough call, and, cynically I will point out that the call will likely be made by
the bean counters.

Delaware also cancelled. Being near the shore could help Mth.

The forecast changed at bit. First they were saying sea breezes and only upper 80s. Now that doesn\'t look right, mid to upper 90s! I\'m really not sure. Del Mar is looking better and better

Free mth  sheets?  Is that something new or did I miss something?

Really not sure why Midnite Bisou is even running. Purse is small for her talent. Apple Blossom and Phipps were triple this size. I know she is running against the wind but.

I remember many years ago when the Suburban was run or around July 4th I believe it was Behrens for Bond who ran in a hard fight and won in a 102 degree inferno. That kind of dehydration and effort can take something out of horse. By the end of the year (Breeders Cup) he was shot.
