Did he have a a fair start? Since the the assistant had a hold of the reins when the gates open and Bodexpress bucks - should they have declared him a nonstarter?

I freeze framed and definitely had a hold when gate opened. Didn\'t let go until horse reared.

That is what I saw - so why didn\'t they? NBC said the Inquiry sign was taken down very quickly, so they obviously did not think it was any kind of an issue. It is possible (likely) that he reared because he was being held - look at the reaction of the guy in gate. He was ticked because he knew he messed up.

Not too many people were going to light the trash cans on fire over this long shot not getting a fair start. I’m not going to say they should have but I would have understood had they in fact done so.

It now seems to depend on the consequences of enforcing the rule. Let’s just have everyone go home happy. OK. Forget about it.

That starter was latched onto Bode like a vise. Non Start would have saved me 80% of the beat.  Its too bad he didn\'t get the trip, might have shocked some. The inside was golden, just never foresaw the heady right Gaff gave the winner. See him in the Belmont.

Oh for sure.
