Can you also get fatalities to me plot with this?  Would be fascinating

skitimber

25 starts in a year is one just about every two weeks.

Oscar Barrera died in \'91!

Where were these horses running or is there an actual list with locations/types of races and their wins?

\"Chiming Jet, a Tri Jet mare who earlier raced for breeder Fred Hooper, started five times in 22 days, winning twice, finishing second once and third once.

Even better was Teriyaki Stake, a $20,000 Barrera claim that won six consecutive races, all of them in March of 1986: $22,500 claiming races on March 2 and 10; a $35,000 claiming race March 13; a $45,000 claiming race March 21; an allowance race on March 25, and a $47,500 claimer March 31.

The most famous of all was Shifty Sheik, a $35,000 claim in 1984 who won three straight in 13 days for Barrera, then took 10 days off before jumping into Grade 1 company and almost beating champion Slew o\' Gold in the Woodward Stakes.\"

Teriyaki Stake comes with a story, but it’s not mine to tell...

Owner Glenn Lane claimed Teriyaki Stake from David Vance early in the 1985 Meadowlands meet. I trained for Glenn. TS was a gorgeous, stout filly with ankles that looked like grapefruits. Could not get her sound enough to train never mind re-enter. Sent her to New Bolton and I will never forget the letter they sent back.
TS will never race again and will probably not be able to support carrying a foal. Ouch!
After an extended all out barn effort - and a nearly fatal setback - she got back to the races for a $16,000 tag. As she went into the starting gate I turned to Glenn and said that I had done my job.
TS won that night. That was gravy. We sent her to NY and I believe we ran her for $20,000. She finished second and was claimed. We were sick when we got the claim
slip.

As Rich Curtis suggested, racing seems to have trouble distinguishing between a lifeline and a noose.

Thought you all might like to know that PETA\'s laudatory statement from March 15th (below) has now been deleted from its site.

It\'s one thing for Belinda to have been played for a sap, but the Jockey Club really should have known better.

Last one leaving Santa Anita, please turn out the lights. As Dandy Don would say, the party\'s over.
