Just watched replays of his races! Very good horse, awesome pedigree

Might be my key horse

big18741

Unlike Cloud Computing he\'d need to improve.

Agree on the pedigree angle but how do you feel about the 11 weeks since his last race?

Twisted Tom is the other horse with a strong female family for the distance who\'d need to improve. He comes in with 7 weeks between races.

Any thoughts on this much rest for horses having to go 12 furlongs?

Reminder that riding those endless sweeping Belmont turns has undone many a \"Belmont novice rider\".

EPICHARIS (JPN)

Tracus

400M     24.80[01]
600M     36.34[01]
800M     48.20[01]
1000M  1:00.84[01]
1200M  1:13.86[01]
1400M  1:26.61[01]
1600M  1:38.70[01]
1800M  1:51.37[01]
1900M  1:57.78[02]

1 yard = 1.09361 meters
Edit Correction  = 1 meter = 1.09361 yards

Apparently the 2nd fastest running in the history of the race @ the distance.

Remembering that it is not particularly unusual for Japanese race fractions to be faster at the end of the race than at the beginning of the race. This horse is not a need to lead type. I\'ve seen him run down others.

yards vs meters is a curious issue?

Think you have your conversion reversed. 1 yard = 0.9144 meter and 1 meter = 1.09361 yards

just ur typical 1 minute and 53 seconds workout 2day. Oh baby, this really helps out a lot. Unreal. You got Bobby Shades drilling his entire army coming to the East 45 flats and 58 while this guy is running around the track like a Lipizzaner stallion.
Cap Frank Ramsey \"Some of the things they do, uh, defy belief. Their training program is simplicity itself. You just stick a cattle prod up their ass and you can get a horse to deal cards.\"

Thank you, SoCalMan2, for pointing out my typo in a civilized way.

After posting early this morning I immediately went to sleep and awoke just now uncomfortably concerned by the thought that I had posted the meters to yards conversion backwards. I maintain a 3rd shift type of schedule.

Yet I wonder if the trakus data can be correct? Do they have a misprint? Could it be they used M when actually the splits were not meters but 1/8\'s of a mile as we are accustomed to?

The idea that the horse c/b 9% faster doesn\'t seem plausible.

Not mentioned in this thread(?):

Thunder Slow came out of his Derby debacle at Churchill and finished second to
Churchill, Europe\'s top 3YO, at a mile on the turf.

Do not know how this will affect my estimation of Epicharis\' chances Saturday.

One thing that has been missed in some places as far as the Trakus data. Some have viewed the difference between TS and Epi as 15 feet, it is 15 meters on their data.

Odds will be too low tow play him...  will need to review figures to decide

I just stumbled across this info on Twitter, do you guys reckon this is legit? https://twitter.com/HorsePlayerNow/status/872629761314566144

Does it mean anything?

Edit: It is legit, story all over Twitter and elsewhere this morning with trainer confirming some problems (e.g. http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/221992/epicharis-does-not-train-after-lameness-treatment ; http://www.drf.com/news/epicharis-treated-lameness-trainer-still-hopes-run-belmont ), seems like they will skip training today (Thursday) and scratch also seems possible (though by no means certain).

If they do end up running him it\'s a slippery slope to assume anything, IMO, I\'m sure these things are more common than one would think.

That\'s a shame for the race but probably the right decision, hopefully he can prove he can run fast in America at a later occasion.

IWC still needs to run a medium + race to win though, and pool price will probably be about right now. Tapwrit should be the logical 2nd choice but judging by the will pays he will not offer much value either. If I were to play today, I would pass.
