Three reasons you should be gearing up for Oaklawn Park in January.

1.  Super testing for every race has been implemented (A track spending an extra $100k for testing to occur on every race of the meet is a place I want to play).

2.  Computer assisted bettors in the past have been kept out of the pools and presumably that is still true.  I\'ve asked a few people to confirm this fact and waiting to hear if it is still accurate.  If I find out either way I\'ll post what I learn.  If it is still true, not many people are using TG figures on this meet and you might have a real edge with them at your disposal.

3.  Vic Stauffer returns to booth.  While Wallace was solid and Aiello was alright, Stauffer is outstanding.

If those aren\'t reasons enough then maybe you should find a new game to play.....I\'m hoping to make it down there for Saturday of opening weekend (weather permitting), Rebel Saturday, and Ark Derby Saturday.  I intend on following the meet very closely so if you want to pm during the meet feel free as I\'m always happy to share any insight I may have or tell you if I don\'t have any whatsoever.

and if you\'re on-track, there\'s the 50 cent corned-beef sandwich special on opening day:

Last year I was there on opening day and the lines for this promotion all day were ridiculous!  At the end of the day I recall people carrying as many as the could home with them out of the track!  What people will do for a cheap sandwich......luckily these are also the people shoving at least a tiny bit of money through the windows down there!!

Al Caught Up

shoot, man, hard to get quality corned beef anywhere these days! don\'t look a gift horse in the mouth...beats that cold Sbarro meat-lovers slice at the Big A by a mile.

4. Gary Stevens will ride there this winter.

Always been a big fan of Vic, enjoyed his work up here in the Bay Area. Those race calls with Zenyatta were great. Been too long since he\'s had a gig, well deserved.

Bloodhorse reported last week that Stevens is having hip replacement surgery, so he won\'t be riding anywhere for a while.

TGJB

Re 1, if they\'re not freezing and retesting samples it may not make a difference. Sounds like they have the money to do it.

I\'ve got my tickets for Rebel Day and AR Derby day. Looking forward to it!

I will be at Oaklawn 3 days a week. Would love to meet some of you. I\'m part owner in several that will run at OP this year. Should have two run opening weekend that will have a big chance.

I spoke today with Bobby Geiger at Oaklawn Park and he confirmed they continue to keep computer bettors out of the pools there.  Everyone has their own opinion on this topic but his strongest theme during our very brief conversation was that they care about the grandstand gambler as their reason for excluding the computer guys.

Best of luck!  (Old friend Marquee Miss, who owes me nothing after her start and finish to 2016, is entered opening day.....)

Count me down for the first redboard infraction of the year.

I had both hips replaced. Back in action in less than 30 days and Gary is in far better shape than I plus I was 69 for my left and 71 for my right. He\'ll be back in no time. The key is your rehab and of course the expertise of your physician. You can make book on this.
