1. The Derby Future Pool

Some people have decided to make future bets on Mohaymen at 3-1. There\'s a pretty good chance that he comes out of gate no lower than that even if he\'s the favorite.  That bet is also a bet that he beats Nyquist in the Florida Derby.

Not a ton of value in there so far.  Matt King Coal might be worth something if he stays above 60-1, since the Wood path to the Derby looks a bit soft.

On the other hand, after he wins the Fl Derby geared down by 6 1/2 and is assigned another 0 or there-a-bouts. His followers will insist they got a deal because lineman makes him 7/5 for Yum race. Another TC winner promotion when it rains it pours.

I rarely bet 3/1 horses I know are in the race. I expect Mohaymen to win KD yet would not take 3/1 he makes the race.

Maybe a big bet will be withdrawn prior to pool closing. doubtful very much smart money in the pool and if so not @ < say 15/1.

I like your list! Who can we expect from FG this year?

That could happen, but when Chrome and AP went to the gate at around 5/2 . . . . Hell, a bad draw would move the favorite off those kinds of odds.  But Songbird is getting bet at 1/2 with two months to go, so what do I know.

As far as FG, Mo Tom was best in the Risen Star.  Seems to be just fine with more distance.  Rail riding horses always seem to find trouble, but he\'s the most talented. Maybe he needs Calvin.

For what it\'s worth, Maggie noted in the paddock last Sunday that Matt King Cole had not grown much from 2 to 3.

Silly post.  When was the last DErby favorite less than 2-1?

You have to be a moron to take Mohaymen in the dErby futures at 3-1.  The fact that there are people out there willing to do that, betting into the pools, is what keeps many of us trying to beat this game.
