Age

Does anyone have any stats on the ages of recent derby winners. Please don\'t be funny and say 3. I am looking for the true age. Jerry, Do you factor this into your handicapping of the derby. Two or three months seems like it could mean alot with these young horses.

I agree. A horse born in late January compared to one born in May is no different than a 15yo vs a 17yo. Which one do you think has a better chance of making a HS varsity team, assuming talent levels are about equal.?

The age of the winners is indicated by their birth month at the top of each entry. You\'ll find one in May and several in April. If the horse is showing its fast to my mind if its younger it may even have more improvement to offer over those two or three months older.  If he\'s not competitive thats another thing.

They only started entering the foals date of birth about four or five years ago, so no real angle to play so to speak.
