For those interested from Dr.Mary Scollay who heads Kentucky racing, a friend to gamblers.

Hello Mike,

All Oaks and Derby contenders have been subjected to out of competition testing.  This involved a cooperative effort that (in addition to Kentucky) included assistance from California (CHRB), New York, (NYGC), Florida (Stronach Group), and Illinois (Illinois Racing Board) in collecting samples from horses at 10-14 days prior to each race.  Blood samples were subjected to testing for blood doping agents as well as full instrumental screening.  I am awaiting the results on the last few samples that arrived last week, and then I understand there will be a press release issued.

As is usual, all horses in Graded Stakes will be subjected to TCO2 testing.

Oaks and Derby contenders will undergo veterinary scrutiny beginning today—with horses observed on the racetrack daily, and examined in their stalls at least once prior to race day.

Post race testing will be performed on a minimum of 4 horses in each Graded Stake; the first three finishers, and one or more horses selected by the Stewards.  For non-graded races, a minimum of two horses is sampled.

All post-race samples are subjected to instrumental analysis for approximately 1,500 foreign substances and their metabolites-inclusive of regulated therapeutic substances and banned substances, a testing menu that exceeds the TOBA's requirements
