Eddi - Ton

I\'m starting to get very depressed.

I think that this horse is not only capable of winning the Derby, I think he has all the tools and room for significant growth necessary to win the Triple Crown.

I\'ve got some theories of my own with regards to the Wood figure.  Let\'s assume, of course,  that Master David ran back to or slightly past his 2 yr. old best of 2. With the ground loss that \"Eddi - Ton \" incurred, his number would be better than his previous top of 1 3/4 and sets him up for another move on May 1.  I think this \'imaginary\' scenario fits for Tapits sheet as it\'s not absurd to think he ran a 2-3 point new top himself.

Regardless, it now appears that Derby fever is striking what were previously assumed to be logical minds and the end result is the racing world misses out on this year\'s superstar in the biggest of races.

The closer we get, the more likely it is that the qualifying, non-threats will show up.

Sinister G.    Please !

Action this Day.   Ibid.

St. Averil ?  What happened to responsible management of young horses ?

Birdstone?  Didn\'t he run the same time at a 1 70 yds. that Eddington ran a 1 1/16th in.

Pgsheets:

I feel your pain. This is my first time posting on this forum, but I check it out every now and then, and I really agreed with the post you made about the Wood earlier this week.

On other forums -- Bloodhorse, Final Turn -- I\'ve been saying since February that I believed Eddington was our best chance at a Triple Crown winner this year, and I still feel this way. And like you, I played this horse hard in the futures (I have him at 100/1, 85/1 and 50/1). After the Wood, I was feeling good about his chances of making the gate, figuring horses like Sinister G, Action This Day and Birdstone would do the reasonable thing and stay at home.

Alas, reason rarely conquers Derby fever, and it looks like our boy\'s next race will be the Preakness, barring any injury/illness-induced defections in the next 10 days. If not for a nose in the Wood and a hard bump in the Gotham, he\'d be heading for Churchill -- but that\'s horseracing, I guess. It\'s too bad that Hennig and Bailey weren\'t able to get the most out of this guy in the Wood.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you\'re not alone in your faith in Ed -- nor in your disappointment. I\'ve got good future bets riding on several other major Derby contenders, but Ed is the horse that really excited me this spring.

And I thought 15-1 was stealing.

Good luck, though it is rather humbling to know there\'s someone else out there smarter than me..........

While we\'re patting each other\'s backs...

Let it be known that I thought your post on the Wood was so right on that I actually copied it and e-mailed it to a couple of friends of mine who also like Eddington.

If he doesn\'t get into the Churchill starting gate, my plan is simple: nail the Derby winner, then parlay some of the winnings to Ed in the Preakness, where he\'ll be absolutely primed to pull a Red Bullet.

count me in as person #3 who has mucho dinero riding on our boy...

plllllllzzz Lord...somehow, someway, let him get in.   If he destroys them all in the Preakness and the Belmont (which very well could happen) we will forever remember the horse that should have, possibly, won the TC after all these years without one.

phil45

And speaking of trainers screwing us over...I even read a quote from Pletcher this week speculating about being  \"crafty\" and cross entering Ashado in both the Derby and the Oaks, just as a way to keep out the more talented colts like our boy and RHT.

Sad to say this, but sportsmanship truly appears to be dead.  Whatever happened to wanting to beat the best to prove you\'re the best???

I was a big Eddy fan. But to declare he\'d be a TC winner, if he gets in the race, is utter nonsense. They could re-run the Wood another ten times and he\'s still not beating Tapit, let alone winning a Triple Crown, geeeze.

Face it: Hennig has mismanaged the horse, plain and simple. After that nice alw score could\'ve shipped in for the Lane\'s End instead of screwing around in the Gotham and collected the easy money.

It\'ll be interesting to see the numbers next week.

May they all come home safely!

Theres so many that are so close right now you could almost throw a blanket over all of them. It\'s gonna be the 10 marks which separates them.

Theres a lot of good horses that are on the bubble and its just not right for the cross entry trick. I heard thats what Baffert did with Danthebluegrassman or whatever his name was. I didn\'t believe it. But if this filly is entered to keep a horse like Eddington out its corruption of the game, and as bad for it as fixing races. If this is the new game, then there should be AE positions. 20 horses, all non qualifing nominees are A.E. based on Graded Stakes earnings. The field is not set until they are loading them.

Pletcher better not do that. If he does I\'m gonna find him, pick up some fresh manure and lob it right on him.

Michael D.

come on guys, the filly is not going to be cross entered. pletcher is one of the best sportsmen in the game. he was simply making the same point i have been making; the rules are wrong, and they should be changed.

phil45

I actually don\'t mind any horse that has earned his way in being entered, such as Sinister G.  And it is simply just crying over spilled milk to get bitter about that.

I wouldn\'t begrudge somebody\'s derby dream.

BUT...let\'s at least let the horse have a reasonable shot.  Entering Action This Day here in this spot is simply ridiculous.  He has finished completely up the track his last two.  I\'m willing to forgive any horse one bad race (see Wimbledon or Preach)...but ATD has zero business in this race.

Sinister G is just bad luck for our boy.  Can\'t blame his connections for taking the shot.

And yes, I sure wish Hennig had run him in the Lane\'s End...sure did seem (to my way of thinking) the much MUCH better spot...

oh well....

phil45

And I actually don\'t think the rules should be changed.    I like the fact that everyone knows what they have to do and where they have to run.

The only thing I do think they absolutely must do is create an AE list.  That would eliminate absolute travesties like Danthebluegrassman.  For that alone (Baffert screwing another trainer out of his derby dream - Windward Passage), I truly hope he gets what he so justly deserves.

\"But to declare he\'d be a TC winner, if he gets in the race, is utter nonsense.\"

Sheets: No one\'s saying he\'s the Triple Crown winner if gets in the race. We\'re speaking of possibilities, nothing more. I stated that IF we had a TC winner this year, I thought it\'d be Ed:

\"I believed Eddington was our best chance at a Triple Crown winner this year.\"

Phil45 was saying it\'d be a bummer IF he destroyed \"them all in the Preakness and the Belmont.\"

But you\'re right -- \"Hennig has mismanaged the horse, plain and simple.\"

Screwing Barry Irwin and Team Valor isn\'t necessarily a bad thing, LOL.

May they all come home safely!

sheets...ha ha...no doubt.
