When was lasix introduced into the three races comprising the \"Triple Crown\" series?

I know New York was last but am curious if anyone has the timeline for the first year it was allowed in each of the three races.

1996.

Officially, that is.  Harthill admitted to giving Northern Dancer Lasix in his Derby win, so heaven only knows how many classic horses raced with it between 1964 and 1996.

Actually, Harthill stood sentry as a less prominent vet administered the lasix.

Amazing to think that the Northern Dancer bloodline became the most influential
in Racing in the second half of the twentieth century, fueling the bloodstock boom
in the 1980s; who knows what happens if ND doesn\'t win the Derby? Who knows if he
wins without lasix?

After Horatio Luro and the vet who actually administered the lasix passed on, Doc
Harthill told the story of ND\'s lasix Derby with quite a bit of pride.

Lots of good stuff written about Harthill by his arch rival, former Louisville
Courier Journal racing writer Billy Reed.

Yet racing didn\'t react.  Sure, it was a long tme ago, but wouldn\'t it be right to strip the Derby win from the record books for Northern Dancer?
