Well Aussie racing has finished and I had time on my hands, so I did some cursory investigation. A lot has been made of California Chrome\'s last 2 y/o race.

What I am curious about are the particulars of why TG/others gave CC such a big jump up figure? I understand the TG # has components.

1. The race in question was the next to last race ever run at Hollywood Park it was run closing Sunday @7F on the dirt in 1:22.12. Wouldn\'t the track speed be suspect. I\'ve also gotten the impression that raw time is no more important than relative spacing.

2. I believe CC was 4 wide going into the turn and cut in turning into the stretch. Some ground loss!

3. It seems his adversaries were not especially fast and have done little since. What do you compare the race too? His 5.5F previous top when he won the race at the head of the stretch.

TGJB, The simple question is hypothetical if CC\'s 12/22/2013 # could be too fast what part of your methodology would you question? I am not attacking you nor your methodology. I am asking for clarification and explanation.

Reasons other than his nose of course. Thanks in advance. As a sidelight you mentioned Cigar this week, do you remember your take on him as he started his incredible streak.
