You\'re going to see a bunch of new symbols in the sheets for Friday and afterward. We\'ve made some changes. They are:

1. All equipment, lasix, or trainer changes used to be denoted by solid circle at left margin of the race date. The solid circle remains but pertains only for equipment changes now, i.e., blinkers and shoes;

2. Lasix on (including 1st lasix) will be denoted by solid triangle;

3. Lasix off will be denoted by an inverted solid triangle;

4. Trainer changes will be denoted by a solid square;

5. Bute on or off will be denoted by a solid diamond;

6. The appropriate recency category, e.g. last race 11-29 days, will be emboldened;

7. 2nd off a layoff, both in the sheets and Thoro-Quick, is redefined to mean the 2nd race within 42 days after a layoff of of 90 or more days. And if applicable that category will be emboldened along with the appropriate recency category.

These changes will be noted in the legend in a day or so.

Good luck all.

You probably already considered this, but I\'m fairly certain that the bute information in drf & brisnet(from equibase?) has more to do with whether or not the racing jurisdiction requires that one report its use than it does with whether or not the horse raced on bute. Using today\'s 8th race at SA as an example, there is no indication that shipper Global Image raced on bute at Hst, even though Hst has the exact same 5 micrograms of bute per milliliter of serum or plasma rule as SA. The difference is that SA adds the additional requirement that you also must declare on the entry form that your horse received bute. I assume that\'s where the information that every other Calif horse in the race has always raced on bute came from. I don\'t think you can assume that Global Image did not race on bute before today because unlike SA, Hst\'s rule does not require that bute use be reported, only that the horse not exceed the threshold. I\'m fairly certain this situation is fairly common.(I think, but am not certain, that Hoo & PrM may be tracks which follow the SA approach.)

The bute on, off information comes from Equibase, so yeah, it has to be reported for the trackman to pick it up.
