A wonder horse for about 6 or 7 seconds

In about 6 or 7 seconds the connections of social inclusion lost 7 or 8 million dollars (or whatever they got offered)

After a slow break and wide run around the first turn, he was a litt rup against it, and when he ranged up on the far turn and inhaled the leaders, I thought he WAS a wonder horse or very special horse.  And for the 6 or 7 seconds from the far turn until they straightened out in the stretch he looked fantastic ad the jockey looked around for competition.

But alas, he hit a wall and flattened out late.

Now he won\'t even make the derby.

His TG figure will be ok because of the ground loss.  But he looked extremely mortal late.

Tough game.  But that is why the business decision the owner made was so rough to make.

Of course , not taking some  cash off the table was the wrong thing to do, but I didn\'t see anything today that makes him a write off.

HD makes it a lot easier to see things I\'d miss on SD,  the horse was a bit wound up shortly before the start (jock almost got a broken nose) and started to wash out. No idea what his FLA m.o. looked like , but the late \'tude was definitely not a plus.

He is not a write off.  He is a nice horse

But he was being priced as a wonder horse.  Which he can\'t be now.  He won\'t be in the derby.

Could be an interesting Preakness horse.

This story needs to get more bizarre! Since the connections apparently don\'t have a clue, how about they bring Social Inclusion back in the Arkansas Derby or the Lexington! In order to pick up some more points.

Hard to imagine jockey Contreras could have done more (without falling off) to sink the ship than he did. It looked to me that he lost more ground than he got beaten by.

The horse looks like a beast. Getting him all worked up before the race couldn\'t have helped either. Maybe he\'s distance challenged and immature but I saw it more as operator error(s)!

All credit to Wicked Strong and his connections. High Hopes for those who have him in the future pools.

He is a very nice horse. Bloom is off the rose though. The owner needs to build back desired value with a Grade 1 win. I am guessing at a mile. He paid $60,000 for him. He is still worth a lot more than that but nothing approaching $15 million or $8 Million or anything in the millions unless he wins Grade 1\'s and he may just do that. Only third race and he was third in a Grade 1.

I don\'t know about operator error. That\'s not why he flattened out.

California Chrome got the same trip, ground loss didn\'t bother him.

Social inclusion was a path wider into the first turn than California chrome.  And the pace was a bit faster, relative to the track speeds of the two tracks

That said, California chrome pulled away under a hand ride, geared down, while social inclusion was looking for s place to lay down at the 1/16th pole.  Can\'t compare the two horses, not right now.

Social inclusion has upside.  Only his 3rd race and can certainly get something out of the effort, assuming experience was part of the problem and he isn\'t just distance challenged.

But California chrome is a beast right now.  Period.

I guess I\'m just disappointed he didn\'t run second and get into the derby. I think he is better than his race today and his presence would improves the show.

And... I was high on last years (or two back?) Contreras derby horse and got so frustrated watching him lose ground race after race.

Coming back in the Preakness may be a good storyline no matter who wins the derby.

Note - the Jockey says the horse (SI) can run all day so being empty in the stretch is ? or the Jockey is what I suspect.

Losing might have been thing that could\'ve happened to the horse. The connections needed a reality check before they ruined him. Now, hopefully, they\'ll give him a breather and make some noise later in the year.
