ps....mcconaghey is terrific in dallas buyers club...hope he wins the oscar for that...

Soundtrack is to my liking. Bo Diddley - Bring it to Jerome adds a classic quality!

Will watch it tonight. Last one before this was good.

Saw it, at least it\'s moving now, first few episodes were like watching Curling. They\'re still driving me nuts with the mumbling pseudo philosophy nonsense. I guess they\'re bringing the time circle crap around to the spiral tattoos, if it\'s not leading somewhere they should have their license yanked.

I\'m late to the party on this one but since Breaking Bad and now True Detective have been my favorite shows since Sopranos, I feel compelled to chime in.

Also, I saw Dallas Buyers Club this weekend and I thought it was phenomenal.

It makes me want to be.....ah, no, let\'s not go there.

Anyway, huge weekend at Gulfstream and Fair Grounds.

Getting around to my favorite time of the year.  No, it\'s not just another race and anyone who wants to say it is only need to read Shug\'s comments in Privman\'s article today to know that.

I will throw some thoughts out there to see what people think both about the races and then the big dance in a seperate string.

JB, what do you have against Curlin? He was a brilliant col...oh sorry, just saw the \"g\".

Three episodes to go and the internet is alive with speculation about what the
future holds: Will Harrelson\'s slutty gothy older daughter become a member or a
victim of the cult? Are there evil evangelicals (evilgelicals?) involved with
the cult? Will Harrelson\'s father - in - law reappear? Will we ever see the
Yellow King? Is there an assistant trainer or vet\'s assistant at Evangeline or
Delta Downs with enough experience to take over for the deceased meth cooker?

Best moment for me so far: watching the raid on the meth farm go down, while the
detectives retell a story slightly different than what we are seeing on screen.

I watch TV only selectively, and have never watched iconic series like
\"Homicide\" and \"Breaking Bad\", but I think the scenes where the Lone Star
quaffing, chain smoking, beer can sculpting McConaughey is being interrogated,
while possibly too obtuse and slow paced for some, are Brilliant!

JB, as to the pace and the psilosophizing, I think the novelist who has written
the script is trying something interesting: Fiction = characters, dialogue,
action, narrative.  Usually when fiction becomes a movie or TV presentation, it
seems as if the author\'s philosophy, or \"worldview\", contained to some extent in
the narrative, is the most difficult aspect to put onto film; Pizzolato tries it
and this might account for the early slow pace here.

One man\'s slut... and given the way they brought up that deal she damn well better be integral to the main plot. Especially with only 3 episodes to go.

By the way, I don\'t have a problem with people talking Derby. I have a problem with the nature of a lot of discussion on the subject at this time. The entire point of putting figures on a graph is that form (ability) is not static. We spend a lot of time in Derby seminars talking about good and bad patterns involving the last two figures-- a horse can be the best of his generation and do it one race too soon, or too late. Figuring out the best horse right now is of limited value.

JB,

Not a huge Derby fever fan by nature but Jim\'s post along with my follow up a lot of which was via the Derby winner achieves here points out exactly what you\'re saying. If we were all just looking for the fastest horse NOW and that had any validity? TAP would have 10 Derby winners already.

Developing horses that overcome a slow pace, tough trip, have a profile to improve as a 3 yr old adding distance etc...

That is what the Derby chase is about for me as well as finding the underlying value of the non obvious in a 20 horse field.

It\'s a lot like looking for the perfect female; which in my case is the elusive 6 foot, red headed. Oriental women who speaks French. The closet I\'ve come was a
5\' 9\" Korean who spoke French and was willing to dye her hair!!!

OK I\'m bored and trying to make a rainbow 6 ticket!
