U K TRICK...

I wish Jerry Brown\'s U K TRICK, who finished a game
hard-rallying second in the Rare Treat Handicap at
Aqueduct on Monday, had some early speed. The winner,
AUSTIN\'S MOM, certainly ran well, but saved every inch
of ground and showed an important tactical edge. Why
was U K TRICK dismissed at 11-1? Did her high odds
reflect one of those speed figure discrepancies between
sheet camps as to just how fast U K TRICK\'s last race was?
[It\'s worth noting that her last race Beyer was lowish too.]
When one sheets camp says \"Zig\" when the other says
\"Zag,\" I\'ve learned to cherish those situations.

Yeah, it was a bummer she din\'t win at that generous price (fastest filly at the weights at 11-1). Fortunately I bet her win and place (which I never do) for my six year old son.  It was priceless watching him scream his lungs out for her as she got up for second.  Seemed to have amused much of the crowd in the lower level Gulfstream restaurant who wouldn\'t have believed such a quiet kid could give a pretty good Linda Blair imitation rooting his horse home.

Now when he starts skipping school at 12 years old to go to the races I probably won\'t be so amused...

Ah shucks, don\'t worry about him skipping school, he\'ll probably take his wireless PDA and play in class!!!!

OPM - As one degenerate horseplayer to another, I suggest that you not pass any of this converstaion on to your wife. Somehow I don\'t think she would find it very funny...:-)

Catalin - Who does your son like in the feature at Aqu tomorrow?..:-)
