Question about fig-based trainer profiles

How can a trainer have more number of starts under the new tg figure based stats than under the runs-based stats?  What don\'t I understand?

Also I like the new layout of the dam-side data. Tomorrow\'s Gulfstream sheets are a mixture of the old and new layout which is weird.  The new layout just seems to read easier.  But I have a question about this also. You added a ?.  In the explaination it says that this means you don\'t have figures for those races. But then there is still a figure.  If you don\'t have figures for those races where did the figure come from?  There\'s something about this also I don\'t understand. Thanks in advance for your explainations.

Hi Phil,

I write the programs so JB deputed me to answer.

The figure-based stats date from January 1 1998, while the runs-based ones are done for a rolling five years - so this year\'s start from January 1 2000. We used the extra years for the figure-based stats in order to increase the sample sizes.

For the dam and progeny records the figures in parenetheses are the number of runs the horses had in the different categories. TG may not have made figures for the tracks the horses ran at, particularly in the early 90s, so if we didn\'t make a figure we show a ?
