Only 23 scratches at Aqueduct today, many vet. NYRA racing disgraceful Dec thru Mar, one or two days excluded.

Why the vet scratches?,undisclosed, players will never know, take a good guess next time those run!

Who needs transparency?

Now a good time to remind me again why PJ Campo has not been reassigned within the organization...

miff

Bee,

PJ has little  to do with overall policy, only job is to use the garbage available to fill race cards from winter books.Out of towners go to Gulf, stay home with more liberal med rules.

Race dates mandated by NYSRWB/Gaming commission with penalties for non compliance.New NYRA entertaining shorter winter race dates over fierce objections of self serving Rick Violette and co.Winter purse money being poured down a dark hole, mainly appeasing the upstate lobby for their farms and upstate backyard breeders of crooked legged mares.

Several viable solutions available to winter racing question, will come down to money, not racing quality.

Good Luck!

As Director of Racing, or whatever his title is, isn\'t he responsible for the \"garbage\"?

miff

Guess he would prefer to have a bunch of higher level horses which in the day of horse shortage is very difficult.

I can see Aqueduct and Belmont both down to 4 days a week within the next couple of years, if not sooner.

Miff:

Carry me for a couple of more rounds here.

Horse shortage, political pressure/apathy, bad economy. These are factors which
have affected Racing in every venue in the last 5 - 10 years. Some venues have
actually managed to prosper despite these problems.

Nowhere has the quality of Racing, and the credibility of the Racing program, and
the transparency of the Racing program, taken as big a hit as it has at NYRA in
the past 5 years.

Charles Hayward lost his job over his takeout pas de deux with Steve Crist. No
one has taken the fall for the current deplorable condition of NYRA.

Miff, as a Staten Islander I am sure you are familiar with the saying \"A fish
stinks from the head.\"

Time for NYRA to act more like a Fortune 500 corporation or Major League sports
franchise and make the necessary changes at the top, because, with apologies to
Micheal Ray Richardson, \"the ship be sinking\" and \"the skys the limit\" in terms
of how far it can sink.

miff

Bee,

Never gonna happen to a totally State run \"Agency\" i.e. NYRA! All the power/authority ultimately lies Upstate with the newly appointed Gaming Commission.New CEO of NYRA will be asked to take about half the compensation package that the position is worth, have a Board loaded with political appointees and deal with the Gaming Commission. His \"job\" also will be to find a way to possibly privatize NY Racing( He probably gets fired in that scenario)

NY will never be the big time racing venue it could be if it was in fact run like a Fortune 500.Death grip of pisano Andrew and deputy Menga has many concerned over the future of NY racing. So far nothing more than PR moves by acting Chairman scholar appointed by pisano Andrew.
