How Bout Them A\'s!!!!!!!

I loved the 1970\'s teams, Billy Ball, Bash Brothers era, 2000\'s with the Big 3/Giambi/Tejada.....

But these guys have a special place in my heart. Tonight was the season in a microcosm, it just had to be a walk off. 15th walk off, and once Valverde came in was there any doubt that this magical season would be extended with another last AB win??

Can\'t wait for tomorrow, bring on Verlander. My guy Parker will be ready, should be another great game. That stadium rocked tonight, not many venues better for pure energy and adrenaline.

Again, sorry for the hijack. But just Wow. My mom is loving this.

Congrats Dub, same for Yankee fans too, what a special night that was. HUGE night tonight for many teams as Bart Scott might say

CANT WAIT!

Being a lifelong Cubs fan, I have to live vicariously
through the success of other baseball teams this time
of year...so long as it\'s not the despised Cardinals.

(Sorry Shanahan...just can\'t do it.)

Was on a couple of \"heart attack comeback\" teams in
H.S., and loved every minute of it.

Paul, is there room on the A\'s gravy train for this late
boarder? I don\'t think I\'m a Mush...but you never know.

Fat chance. Heineken Curls is my limit these days.

Which reminds me: better see if my seat on the gravy
train is over a leaf spring.   :P

I took my 7 year old daughter to the Yankee game last night (her first baseball game).  Lots of funny questions:

1.  Why are those guys in the penalty box in the outfield? (she plays ice-hockey, so it seemed a natural question despite my chuckling.)
2.  How come it\'s $10.00 for popcorn?
3.  How come it\'s $9.00 for a beer? (OK, that was my question).
4.  Why is the \"coach\" wearing a uniform?
5.  What\'s an A-Rod and why is that man in front of us yelling about it? (the guy in front of us kept yelling \"A-Rod sucks!\")
6.  Can the defense score any points?
7.  Will they play all night if no one scores? (this in the bottom of the 10th)
8.  What happens if they run out of baseballs? (after A-Rod fouled off 3 in a row)
9.  Does pinch hitting hurt? (only A-Rod, I told her.  After I explained that the same guy who pinch hit for A-Rod hit the game tying and winning home runs she asked why the coach didn\'t \"sub him\" sooner.  I had no answer...
10.  In the car ride home - Do the Yankees win all the time?  I really had to laugh at that one.  As a closet Cubs fan, I had to say, it sure does seem like it.

There\'s nothing like sharing sports memories with your kids.  She witnessed that Yankee mystique first hand but probably won\'t realize it for a few years.

Great stuff and how lucky you are to share it with your daughter.  Most important and simplest thing for her to remember is that A-Rod does indeed Suck!!!

The Giants just completed the big comeback after losing the first two ... at home! Could we be looking at another Bay Area Series 23 years after the first one? In the immortal words of Tug McGraw ... you gotta believe!!!

P-Dub

Too much Verlander.

No regrets. Many great memories, starting with game 4, the final series with Texas, and many others. Just fantastic post season baseball in every series. Today\'s games were awesome.

Breeders Cup in 3+ weeks, looking forward to that.

Paul,

Great run by young live arm A\'s! Verlander, like the 800lb gorillas in racing, always dangerous to fool with.

P-Dub,

Any love for the Giants?

Was pretty startled to see them smack Verlander
around like that. Detroit is in BIG trouble.

magicnight

Redboarding, I know, but I won a small bet from a Verlander fan last night. I thought Detroit would be a little flat off the layoff and that Zito would pitch well again. Verlander only got smacked around by Scutaro and Sandoval, and those two have been hitting everybody lately.

P-Dub

I have many family and friends that love the Giants. My Mom loved both Bay Area teams, but for some reason liked the Giants just a bit more.

Verlander didn\'t get the ridiculous strike zone that he got in the previous series, and his ball didn\'t have the same movement. Agree, Detroit in big trouble and wouldn\'t be surprised if it ends in Detroit.  This area is just buzzing right now.

Your Mom was obviously a no-nonsense
baseball purist, and didn\'t go for any of that
junior circuit stuff like the DH, 4-hour games,
and pitchers staying in until their arms fall off.
