Looks like a live longshot in the Pacific Classic. Can I get him at close to his 15-1 ML or better?

Paco Lopez ever ride on synthetics?

If Game on Dude or Richards Kid win at short prices no big deal.

Totally concur. The synth is the question.  But price is right, certainly better than Sboy\'s 5:1.

You fellows have a sharp eye.

Alan gave this out as his free Sunday play on
Jason\'s web site.

(Might need to register...free.)

Had the MSW sprint over the Arlington poly in his second career race and he trained over the surface as a three year old prior to moving to Calder.

Worked okay at Delmar and the sire pretty good with synth runners.I think he\'ll be okay on it.He\'s been there close to three weeks so acclimation shouldn\'t be an issue although he did have a little temperature upon landing.

I had him in the Donn when he was sawed off in mid stretch putting in his run.Forgot all about him since but now a chance to get it right at a price.

The more pertinent question, according to those in the know, is whether or not he\'ll be playing it.

Big,

You say he\'s had 3 weeks \'acclimation\' (maybe that was a \'sign\'?? lol) but in my experience, these east coast shippers in \'big races\' almost always universally never fire. Hopefully today this will be different, but even acclimation time seems to never be enough. Sure, the odd shipper will do well out there on occasion in situations like this, but i have to imagine anyone who religiously bets cross country shippers out to Calif, has to be bordering on broke.

There\'s really no rhyme or reason as to why quality horses go across the country to California and just can\'t perform.

With all that said, this horse will be a price, so, i wouldnt recommend just tossing him out, but if he doesnt run a lick, i wont be surprised in the least.

I don\'t know if I\'m playing the race but in these situations with a high price I would normally play the horse to win and do a front & back exacta. Just curious how others play a longshot in a race. Also, any thoughts on how you would play a tri. I know someone posted that Alan at the Saratoga seminar mentioned a way to backup your play was by keying the fave on top of all on top of the longshot.

George,

That was Julian who has quite a different approach and ONLY bets long shots.
He will make a win bet on his long shot selection and box him in the exacta with the logical horse (in his opinion) may or may not be the favorite. Then he will make his 2nd exacta using the logical contender/ all / his long shot play for the tri.

Frank, just seeing this now, but the radio guys were all talking about how this is a bad shipper and looked uncomfortable all week.
See you labor day.

We brought Student Council in to win this race less than a week before it. Doesn\'t mean this one will run (there\'s a surface issue here), but the east/west thing is seasonal. Cold to hot is a much tougher deal.

I like the filly here. the 2 hole + Garrett = inside trip. gets 1st lasix and 2 lengths in weight. 1 1/16 last was a bit too short, and the 5:97 & 6:06 final 1/16s and strong gallop out bode well for the 10f. she\'s had no problem with distance in the past. should get an honest pace. puts in a strong late run here to take it. Amani on top.

Game On Dude - not a lot of turf breeding and a relatively slow \'1.5\' only try 10f poly. game runner could be there on class alone, but I don\'t see any value. toss from the top 2 spots.

Richard\'s Kid - won this thing twice, has run fine on poly this year, and closed well ag the fave last. he\'ll be tough doing his thing.

Dull - dangerous back on poly. strong :12 flat burst to take the BG at Kee. can he extend that run an extra 1/8? the million $ question. right there if he does, but I\'m not that confident either way. use.

Sterling - fast runner has decent turf/poly numbers first 2 lifetime, and nice 10f genes below. only try 10f resulted in a \'0\' on dirt, but was nailed by Headache and beat Cease a head. those guys would be a long in here. right there if he gets the poly mile and a quarter. decent odds. use.

Rail Trip - did pretty well in this thing 2 years ago, and should get a perfect trip. use.

Suggestive Boy - pretty good 10f turf pedigree, and ran well at the trip last year. exploded home after some trouble upper stretch last. could be sitting on a big one.

The filly to win & over the 1,3,4,5,8.
