The biggest surprise to me about the whole race was his dull effort. Has anyone heard any word as to why?

Pletcher got out of town without talking to anyone.

He\'s off the trail for now:

QuoteEl Padrino (13th) was to fly to Todd Pletcher's New York base later this afternoon and stablemate Gemologist (16th) was slated to depart for WinStar Farm for a brief rest. Pletcher called both "unlikely" to go to Baltimore.

Not surprised they scattered but, what an inexplicable bust. Before the race, Pletcher said Gem was further along than Super Saver. As Dana noted, Pletcher horses burned up a lot of good money Saturday. Trainer\'s 90 day win rate over 30%. Really weird.

FrankD.

Pre-race testing at Palm Meadows and super testing at the Derby halts the comparisons to the other all time great trainers now doesn\'t it; along with his 1 for 20 something Derby record!

Question of the day:
When was the last time TAP wasn\'t leading trainer at Saratoga?
Hint it was the last time NYRA used the d-te---on barn!

1-31 Frank! With the one being a Borel rail trip on a slop horse who never won again.

He has had some decent on the board finishers but so has a lot of guys who dont bat 40% at GP!

Someone I know who trained horses told me moves/walks like a horse with a bad knee. But idk....

Working on a Spa Trip. Need to get up there and meet and see you guys before they bury me. Around Travers Day. Will be in Morristown for a wedding. Thats near The Spa isnt it...ha!

If you need to bring along a trooper, Silver, you may want to make sure he\'s the \"New York State\" variety.

Lol Magicnight. He wasnt mine but was assisting a security detail for someone else I was taking to the Paddock.

You should of seen the look on his face when the guy at the Paddock Gate stuck his hand in his chest and said \"I cant let you in here.\"

Back to Pletcher there does seem to be guys out there like Baffert, Romans and Motion who can get\'em good in Aptil and still have that Derby Pop left. Too be fair Broadway Alibi ran big.

Figured maybe with your bankroll you needed a Pinkerton. But you don\'t have to worry about getting ripped off at that racetrack. They take care of that in town.

TG figs would disagree.

I want to know what is going on with this horse.  The bustling him off to WinStar for undisclosed layup without a word reeks of try to protect the reputation of a horse in the middle of a stallion sale deal.

Why the dull effort?  It could be as simple as busy week, horribly hot and humid day, adrenaline washout in front of 165,000 screaming people and a 20-horse field around the first turn.  Move the story up from there.  The secretive escape to WinStar doesn\'t support something so simple.
