Okay, how many of you hit the first question?

Here\'s the second:

Sarafan has made 23 starts in North America. He earned his best Ragozin figure:

a) winning the G1 Eddie Read last year

b) finishing second by 1/2 length in a 1:32:3 mile last time out

c) in the Arlington Million, United Nations, or one of several other G1 or G2 races he finished within a length of winning

d) finishing fourth in a 6 1/2 furlong grass stake at Santa Anita last fall behind Master Belt, I Love Silver, and Kachamandi.

Yup, you guessed it, it\'s D. Ragozin (Friedman, in this case) gave him a 1 for the grass sprint, 2 points better than for any other race of his life, and 4 (four) points better than for running 1:32 and change last time out. In fact, if Sarafan had run back to his best race last time he would have run about a 1:31 mile, according to Ragozin-- an effort that was only good enough to get him fourth behind the above mentioned horses. This, of course, goes back to the sprint/route problems with Ragozin\'s California figures that I discussed at length back in April (see the archives this site).

Note to LF-- turns out the 6 1/2 grass course at Santa Anita is downhill!

More tomorrow, and there is more.
