I just noticed thatRace 1 at AQ is a MCL.  I have my Thorograph sheets in hand (keeping in mindthat this is all still so new to me) What do I look for on the Thoro Sheets in a Maiden Claiming race.  All the numbers are high. 18s 20s Speedy Flight a 16.  Sky Masterson - never raced, Winning Intentions- looks to be the best by your Thorograph numbers.  Am I on the right track here?

Thanks in advance for your help.

He\'s the fastest, yes - but races like this are bad as learning tools.  When a race has lots of first and second time starters the other info (esp. trainer profiles) is at least as important as figures.
Strongly recommend you go to race of the week (ROTW) and look at the sheets and discussion of The Lexington.  ROTW is a good way to learn, and old ones are archived.   TGJB

I would say so. Now you have to figure out if Winning Intentions will run his best, and if any of these can improve enough to catch him if he does (or doesn\'t). Since they are lightly raced and may move up, if the prices are good on some of the others I\'ll think about a play. Since WinInt figures to be a short price I would try to beat him, or I would pass. Mott\'s horse figures to take money even though he\'s a little slower.

Hope this helps. I think the feature could be interesting. HP

Maiden claimers are a crap shoot much of the time. It\'s imperative to look at the Trainer stats of the firsters and see how they do in the 1st time Mclm. Jock/trn combos might reveal intent.

I always look for a horse who has a small new top, even if slower by several points they\'ll often surprise the public by racing well at a nice price. Unfortunately, a general rule of thumb, if a Mclm looks good on the sheets he most likely looks good on the Beyers and will be over bet. Solid play against any Mclm with a big top, you\'ll lose every so often, but the rewards more than make up for it.

Amen to to that!!

Thank you everyone.  I guess I would find out eith dismay tomorrow when I go to check little Winning Intentions\' odds and hes 3-5.  John Kimmeel is only 8.7 % win with MCL - is that true?  Or perhaps I did not understand that statistic from the report.
