Lost Cause

For the past couple of years we have had a dead rail for the big racing days at CD.  Anyone know if CD track crew has been made aware to try to correct or are they just shrugging their shoulders and saying that is a myth and will continue as usual.  I\'ll probably be betting away from the rail for the first couple of races until I can see that it is not a disadvantage.

I talked directly to the new head of the BC (Fravel), who I knew from Del Mar. He said he would talk to them. He\'s one of the best in that end of the business and takes things like that seriously.

One day doesn\'t mean anything, but for what its worth the rail on Sunday was fine.  Not golden, but not dead.  Looked fair.  (not sure if TGJB has done the day yet, but would be curious if he agrees)

Haven\'t done it yet (a little busy) but watched and completely agree, not even a question. HOWEVER-- I think it was good a few days before last year too,

I remember that being the case previously also.  It seemed like they just messed with it for whatever reason on the big day.  Thanks for letting us know you spoke to someone Jerry, hopefully it works.

So far so good. Both dirt and turf seem in great shape without any strange biases, both seem to be lively and returning energy.

The weather calls for rain tomorrow and then nice for Friday and Saturday. Let\'s hope there\'s no repeat of last year\'s wacky dead rail. I\'m thinking that won\'t be the case, but I will be watching closely on Friday anyway.

My only caveat is that (as a general rule) I don\'t think deep closers do well on either dirt or turf at CD, and saving ground is really important, esp. on grass, (but isn\'t that true for most courses, anyway?) but other than that I will be handicapping without factoring in any biases.

Good luck to all.

Rail was death today. Most jocks stayed 3 and wider if they could. Still pouring as of the last race this evening.

Thanks for update.  Almost think this might be better for us coming into the weekend.  If they know it was bad, hopefully they\'ll fix it before tomorrow afternoon.  If it had been good today I think they might have gone the other way.  Guess we\'ll see in about 15 hours.
